This Cease The Mind triple-packed sees three bassline focused numbers glow in a halo of atmospheric textures, endless grooves and highly electrofied synths. With sustained chords and evolving melodies adding to the luster of the title-track, Brian Cid converges on trance, techno and touch of deep house at large, harnessing the percussive effects of solid tom drums inside the spacey groove of "Open Centre" while the slightly menacing dub progressions of "Field Of Play" call upon themes that inspire both hope and melancholy. Review: It's that time of year again, y'know the time to pack your passport, muscle-bearing white vests and lots of sun cream. Well, if you're not hitting Miami for the Winter Conference this year, Knew Deep In Sounds new MWC sampler will have to do. In fact it'll do very nicely indeed, with seven of their freshest cuts in a Hot Since 82 mini mix by - highlights include Montell's sparse, cool jacker "I Can't Remember" abd Cuartero's arpeggiated acid-electro-houser "Bring Back".

Review: Guy J's Lost & Found bring us the fifth installment in their annual 'best of' series. The collection's sitting in our Deep House section but, like the label's output generally, would be equally at home on the progressive/melodic pages, with the label boss's two contributions sitting alongside tracks from other well-known names such as Brian Cid, Tantum, Stereo Underground and Roy Rosenfeld. It can all get a bit floaty and epic in places, and tracks like Stereo Underground's 'Space Fields' and Guy J's 'Beast Of Sea' arguably lean a little more towards the progressive techno side of things, but there's still much to enjoy here.

Review: New York City based Brian Cid appears next for Australian label Balance Music. An acclaimed studio engineer on pop projects in his recent past, he is now driven by a love of club culture and brings a lush and melodic style to the scene - as heard on labels like fabric, Knee Deep In Sound and Get Physical. The Endangered Records head honcho delivers some seriously deep and hypnotic perspectives in tech-house for his full length entitled Meteorite Man: brilliantly exemplified on the slinky mentalist groove of "Quest" or the hypnotic journey down the vortex that is "Limits" awash in a rich tapestry of melody and texture - among many others on this fine release.
