Back Together
Back Together (Yam Who? & Jaegerossa extended club mix) - (7:35) 121 BPM Hot
Back Together (Eric Faria House mix) - (6:57) 121 BPM
Back Together (Yam Who? & Jaegerossa extended instrumental mix) - (7:35) 121 BPM
Review: A heavyweight transatlantic vocal team-up here, as the in-demand tonsils of San Francisco's Brian Lucas share the spotlight with those of the north of England's equally in-demand Suki Soul. Together, they take on Inner City's 'Back Together Again' from 1993 - a track yours truly used to absolutely rinse back in the day, so hopefully it'll mean something when I say they've made a pretty decent fist of it, too. Yam Who? & Jaegerossa's disco-flavoured Extended Mix is accompanied by a matching instrumental but my money's on the Eric Faria House Mix, albeit possibly just because it's the closest to the original...

Gettin To Know U
Gettin To Know U (extended mix) - (5:40) 120 BPM Hot
Gettin To Know U (main mix) - (5:26) 120 BPM
Gettin To Know U (radio mix) - (3:58) 120 BPM
Review: A heavy-hitting collab here as UK disco stalwart Yam Who? joins forces once more with San Francisco-based soul vocalist Brian Lucas. There's a distinctly Sly Stone-esque quality to Lucas's performance on 'Gettin To Know You', an uplifting and peaktime-oriented but still very musical affair with infectious pianos, a soaring sax line and gospel-style BVs. It has to be said that the Extended, Main and Radio mixes really differ only in length - a little more variety wouldn't have gone amiss but then again, you know what they say to do when it ain't broke...

Hungry For Your Love
Hungry For Your Love (vocal mix) - (6:48) 128 BPM Hot
Hungry For Your Love (live From Philly mix) - (7:02) 125 BPM
Hungry For Your Love (radio mix) - (3:56) 128 BPM
Hungry For Your Love (instrumental mix) - (6:48) 128 BPM
Review: Here's an EP that's almost a fully-fledged supergroup in its own right, as three very well-respected producers from the contemporary disco scene - Andy Williams AKA Yam Who?and UK duo Jaegerossa - join forces, and draft in accomplished vocalist Brian Lucas on tonsil duties. What they've come up with between them is an uplifting peaktime soulful/disco houser that'll go down a storm at the likes of 51st State and Vocal Booth Weekender, while for a more authentically 70s sounding pass you can head for the Live From Philly Mix. Radio and instrumental rubs complete the package.

Glow Of Love
Glow Of Love (Yam Who? vocal dub mix) - (7:29) 118 BPM Hot
Glow Of Love (Yam Who? extended remix) - (7:06) 120 BPM
Glow Of Love (Yam Who? instrumental) - (7:06) 120 BPM
Review: Yam Who? recently teamed up with vocalist Brian Lucas on a cover of James Ingram classic 'Yah Mo Be Be There'; now he provides three mixes of the singer's latest outing, which finds him collaborating with fellow Midnight Riot regular Sean Scanlan. It'll surprise no one to learn that uplifting soulful house is the order of the day here - for stylistic pointers, see Blaze, 'The Way You Love Me', Opolopo, and most of Yam Who?'s own back catalogue - with 'Glow Of Love' served up in fairly self-explanatory Yam Who? Extended, Yam Who? Instrumental and Yam Who? Vocal Dub flavas.

Change
Change - (6:47) 120 BPM Hot
Change (Qwestlife remix) - (7:00) 120 BPM
Review: Midnight Riot take something of a left turn into trad-style soulful house territory with this release from Hungarian producer Rony Breaker, which features the golden tonsils of San Francisco's Brian Lucas. In its Original form, 'Change' sits in the tradition of cuts like Shaun Escoffery's 'Days Like This' or Erro's 'Change For Me', which means anthem status at the likes of Soul Heaven or the Vocal Booth Weekender is pretty much guaranteed. Qwestlife then beefs up the bottom end for the slightly more commercial/discofied floors, but it's the sheer quality of Lucas's vocal that carries it either way.
