Review: Some top-notch Brazilian brilliance here, as Aureum founder Bruce Leroys joins forces with Fausto Fawcett and Vivi Sexias on the weighty and pleasingly hard-to-pigeonhole 'Caixa Craniana'. In its original form (track one), the cut sits somewhere between Brazilian hip-hop, Barrio beats, deep house and mutant jazz-funk - all action-packed Portuguese verses, deep sub-bass, lo-fi electronic melodies, head-nodding beats and flashes of Azymuth-0inspired instrumentation. Leroys delivers a deliciously woozy and tactile deep house rub full of morning-fresh electronics and drowsy chords, while Renato Ratier offers up a sweaty, rolling, sub-heavy house mix, full of dubbed-out vocal snippets and mind-mangling electronic noises.

In its original mix form, 'Pleasure' is a deep, driving, slinky and seductive slice of woozy late-night perfection rich in hushed lead vocals, sustained chords, warming bass, jazzy electric piano motifs and shuffling drums. Colombian deep house superstar Felipe Gordon remixes, offering up a smoother and dreamy version that comes complete with his usual trademark jazz-funk bass guitar, immersive chords and rubbery riffs.

Review: Bruce Leroys inaugurates the Aureum label, an outlet - we think - primarily for their own productions, via a collaboration with poet and singer Helora Galhardo, whose Portuguese lyrics reportedly "speak of the most precious asset we all have and possess the message that we must live with all the intensity possible, in a light and free way." Deep house mainstay Ludovic Llorca dons his familiar Art of Tones alias to provide the EP-opening remix, a hybrid nu-disco/electrofunk/analogue house workout that's as sunny and breezy as stroll along a Brazilian beach at dusk. Leroys deliver a version of their own as Aureum, a subtly tech-tinged deep house rework built around gorgeous chords, undulating bass and snappy broken house beats.

Review: Get Physical role into the new year with an ode to the past of a pretty one good just gone with a 2019 various artist compilation drawing upon the straight up club manner of the label alongside some curios from the year that was. These special interest tracks include the refreshingly cosmic aqua italo remix of Soul Spaces' "Lotus Eater", tomping soft club kicks adding that extra touch. There's acoustic fringe funk and atmospheric numbers to go by on Daniel Dubb and DJ T account, with sparse, reduced minimal taking up abstract forms in Enzo Leep & Alffie's "Morning Fragments". Always deep always trippy, the compilation goes off like fireworks on your new year's eve!
