Rough Club Poetry is Bryan Kessler's way of throwing down a new dialogue at this generation's ravers, dropping drum tracks as raw Steve Poindexter, Mike Dunn and those Disco Nihilist cuts from Running Back. Find the hits in "All Drums In" - a banging electro-acoustic number - to the roof raising "My Snare Is A Weapon" and percussion assault that is "Time To Upgrade Your Mind". With streaks of post punk, 80s new wave and vogue threaded through the rest of the LP too, it's "You Ain't Tired" that'll slap you round most.

Review: It's been another great year for Catz 'N' Dogz's Pets Recordings imprint. If you missed any of the Polish imprint's many essential releases, fear not, as help is at hand via this top-notch round up of their biggest cuts of 2019. There are naturally plenty of contributions from the label's popular head honchos, with highlights including Andhim's evocative, acid-sporting vocal remix of "Would You Believe", a suspenseful contemporary dream house rework of "There" by Terr and a deliciously retro-futurist house take on "New Love" by Gerd Janson. Elsewhere, top picks include the warehouse-ready throb of Truncate's "Pressure", the pitched-down darkroom chug of "Rattlesnake" by Psychemagik and the drowsy deep house/UK garage fusion of Black Loops' "Keep A Secret".

Review: Cologne based musician and poet Bryan Kessler returns after some great music released on Get Physical, Numbers. and Sanfuentes recently. Four tracks of 'stone cold party denters', where like the title track says - "Party Like You're Not Alive". This rolling hip-house jam could easily raise the dead. It's backed by three more remarkable weapons, among them are "Trance Balance" with its moody bass-driven bounce and generous use of cowbells, followed by "Outsider's Dance Rhythms" which is a dark house epic featuring skeletal rhythms and a chunky bassline in the vein of early Chicago house classics.

Review: A double header debut from US latin techno experts Sanfuentes Records. Argentinian dancefloor legends DJs Pareja team up with Cologne's ''jackmaster' Bryan Kessler to present the Detona EP. Both parties coming in hot from their prior releases on Comeme and Numbers. Starting off with the banging machine funk of the title track, we then get into some properly jacking tech house on the rather adrenalised epic "Ramp & Rage". Their third offering "Shu Shu" firstly appears in its original format: which is a bumpin' and bass driven deep groove, until the remix by Mijo really lights a fire under its ass! Electronic voodoo music right here.

Review: Bryan Kessler has already released on labels like Get Physical, but this outing for Numbers really sees him prove his worth as a techno producer. The emphasis here is on grimy warehouse techno; it starts with the woozy chords and insistent stabs of "Super Boo" before heading into a scuzzy direction on "Hi How Are You", where dollops of dirty bass and some crowd whoops prevail. Air raid sirens, train shrieks and tough drums come together to create a killer title track and it's only on the final track "Power Flower'' - where Kessler rattles snares over a toy-town synth - that some sense of melody appears.
