Review: Next up from the ever-ready Burke we see him move back onto his solo imprint for an extremely haunted four track selection, headed up by a title track named 'Cross The Line'. The combination of dissonant harmonic layers and grizzly, gnawing low end textures on this one send shivers down the spine before the creepy-crawly sounding percussive layers and pulsating subs of 'Detail' send us in a completely different direction. From here, the drill-like bassline and plucked melodies of 'Harps & Home' send us again into completely new territory, before rounding off on the monumental basslines and scraped bass textures of 'Craic Fiend', putting the cap on a fiery selection.
Review: As always with Encrypted Audio, we are in for somewhat of a treat as they unveil this very classy sounding three track expanse from Burke, who has also been in fantastic form of late. We kick off with the spooky melodic twists and sharpened drum slaps of 'Yu'll Do Nuttin', which sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the EP with it's hard-hitting rhythmic design. From here, we dive into 'Village Eejit', a sub-heavy warbler that would cause damage on any system with its minimal structure and explosive low ends. Finally, things get spacey as Argo steps up on remix duty to revamp 'Bram Stoker' into a heavily weighted roller, adding a perfect amount of variation to the EP as a whole.
Review: What a tasty single we have here as Burke puts together a solid self release by the name of 'Blue Tongued Skank'. As far as categorizing this one goes, we are going to have a bit of trouble as it fits almost perfectly between the grime and dubstep brackets, driven by pounding 808 bass tones, super spooky atmospheric loops and stripped back drums to provide the perfect base over which any MC could run riot. As well as this, the release comes complete with an even more stripped back rethink from the ever-ready JLSXND7RS, who adds an additional, spacy vibe to proceedings.
Review: What a year it has been for Logan, who seems to be setting everything he touches alight. He here teams up with the potent production stylings of Burke for a tasty new single which takes the title of 'Don Gorgon'. We have already heard Logan touch down in so many different genres this year, from UK funky to grizzly grime riddims. This latest exploration sees him provide the perfect patois-style vocal performance over Burke's eerie dubstep designs and spooky horn harmonies, perfect for sending the dance into an eyes down ruckus!
Review: Well, somebody needs to inform Fort Knox that they are due a shipment as Burke have unearthed an absolute goldmine here. He delivers two dubstep heaters for us today, into which couldn't wait to get stuck. On the A-side we are blessed with the spooky tones and almost Dick Tracy style composition of 'Bram Stoker', using eerie high pitched drones, lengthy string lines and sharp horns to create a real sense of urgency. On the flip, 'Dracula' packs a blood sucking punch, combining a 'Chevy' like bass sound with warbling LFO structures to great effect.
