Review: Bud Burroughs returns to Seventh Sign after a few years' hiatus. Like the approach that drives Domenic Cappello's label, Burroughs clearly favours quality over quantity. Half Light differs somewhat to his previous releases. With a focus on more electronic sounds, the Scottish producer still breathes a musical aesthetic into each track. "New Future Line" is a seductive, low-slung groove that balances rich strings and a pulsating bass. "Sigler" sees Burroughs venture farther down the Detroit path, with a moody rhythm combined with shiny, futuristic synths. The title track is a steely, electro workout, while Carl Finlow's remake of "Sigler" delivers a wonderfully understated but impactful version. As always with Seventh Sign's catalogue, Half Light is a 'buy on sight' EP.
