Review: The pace with which the Southpoint crew have been unloading exceptional new material has been truly something to behold, seeing them combine their already seasoned roster with exciting newcomers on a regular basis. This time around, their front-running flag-flyer Bushbaby lands with two speed-garage influenced weapons, sure to convert dances into zoos up and down the country. First up, the gut punching sub pulses and choppy drum work of 'Countdown' roll into play, giving us a combination of nostalgia and euphoria as the track progresses. On the flip, 'In My Arms' delivers a secondary sub-driven slap, this time focussing more on LFO-style synth design and more vocal melody for a tidy B-side

Review: At long last we can finally say that a Bushbaby album has landed on his home label at Southpoint, something we have been waiting to explore for a hot minute. The project is a fantastic collection of styles from the Brighton-native, who pulls together garage flavours in 'Woman's Touch' & 'L.I.A.B', alongside classic bassline grizzlies in 'Annihilation' and the'All N1te' VIP mix. We also get to see him explore a few different areas across the breadth of this project however, from the 80's inspired arrangements of both 'You Are Sleeping' and 'Shiny Purple', to the more soundscape driven styles of 'I Wonder (For Billy)' and 'Chekhov's Gun', the latter of which sees him explore a much techier approach. This is definitely a project worth exploring in long play as we see Bushbaby deliver a killer conquest of electronic dance music.

Review: As always with the Southpoint imprint, it looks like they have delivered another treat for us here as homegrown heavyweight and flag flyer: Bushbaby touches down with a pair of spicy singles, with two different versions of his brand new creation entitled 'Addicted'. This release marks a different direction for Bushbaby as he moves towards a much more tech-house influenced sound, with the A-side focussing on powerful, moogy subs below a wash of pounding drum slaps and stripped back percussive designs. On the flip-side, the 'Burner' mix takes an even moodier route, with subtle bassline pressure and distant pad textures supplying the additional juice. It's a fantastic two-tracker, giving us a taste of Bushbaby's future endeavours.

Review: What a journey the last year has been for Bushbaby, whilst undergoing a serious evolution in his sound, he has landed some of the biggest releases in UK dance music this year. He now touches down on the almighty Night Bass for his latest conquest, that being his extremely tech heavy 'Naughty Pleasure' EP. The title track itself is a super smooth 4x4 roller, driven by tight electronic bass tones and minimalist drum grooves, followed by a crunchy, metallic collaboration with the ever ready Inkline entitled 'Walk Away'. Finally, we finish up with our favourite of the bunch in 'Secret', a nostalgic twist up, livened up by its use of classic organ chords and a smooth final touch.

Review: As ever, we are very excited to see the latest piece of Bushbaby, an artist who seems to go from strength to strength as the years go on. He here returns to his home imprint of Southpoint who continue with their extremely exciting run of 'X Series' releases with this latest banger entitled 'Woman's Touch'. As an overall recording, this original UKG piece is an absolute stormer, perfectly fusing old school garage themes and newer techy production techniques, packed with crunchy drum switch ups and eerie vocal slices. Review: It has been a brief minute since we heard from the Maraki team, who have clearly been keeping busy, plotting away for their next compilation project behind closed doors. Here we see just what they have building up to as they unveil a monumental second edition of their 'Spaces' series. This kicks of with Axel Boy's hard hitting original in 'Feel It Deep' which fuses potent bass synths with stunning vocal lines perfectly. Next up, Zero bring his unique sound design into full flow on 'Broken' before Document One get busy with a highly sought after D&B rethink of Bushbaby's 'Sonder'. Finally, we see the introduction of Greed & BTW who team up with the legendary vocals of Dread MC for their crunchy roller 'Enemy'.

Review: Maraki continue their storming output rate here with an extraordinary four track bonanza by the name of 'Spaces'. This compilation sees them pull together some of their favourite artists, who all shell down in typical fashion. We begin with Skue-K's absolute stormer 'Loco' which has been tearing the festival circuit to pieces. Following this, Bushbaby steps up with a piece of neurotic genius as the apocalyptic horns and outstanding synth designs of 'Sonder' run wild. Following this Zero & Vellum step up for their reesey war anthem entitled 'Untitled DJ Weapon' before FineArt finishes up the release in style with his VIP of 'Lighter Crew', one of the most well received bassline originals of 2018.

Review: If we're talking bass, then In:Flux Audio surely has to be in the running for most prolific label of 2016. The unstoppable collective is always full of tricks up their sleeves, and this Selection Box compilation is exactly the sort of thing we wanted to hear from them; a rough and packed collection of their best and most definitive moments of last year. From pseudo jungle, weird, amorphic dubstep, and killer speed-house, there isn't much that sounds wring with this release, and even the most demanding of bass-heads are likely to find something that they'll churn out week after week, floor after floor.

Review: Since their inception Southpoint have championed young bass maverick Bushbaby. Here they unleash his second solo outing, The Illusive EP. A gifted musical visionary who sounds like no other, here he gets to explore his creativity to great effect. The title track features abstract bass patterns and glitchy scattershot beats, whilst "Marble Arch" is slower and features trap influenced beats and a sombre cello riff. Meanwhile "Gameplan" includes gypsy/middle eastern string melodies and dubby breaks, whilst "No Tomorrow" adds classical strings and gentle chimes into the mix.
