Review: Brixton-born legend Don Letts (- a cultural polymath, pop star, filmmaker, radio broadcaster, commentator, Grammy winner and DJ- ) curates the latest Late Night Tales compilation with a diabotical 'Version Excursion'. Song choices are diverse, from French dubsters' OBF's rendition of "Sixteen Tons", to Ash Walker's refix of Omar's "There's Nothing Like This" and "All I Do Is Think About You" - immortalised by the ill-fated Tammi Terrell and preserved here by Quantic (the latter two both exclusives). Amidst a wealth of rarities you'll also find a cover (by Wrongtom Meets The Rockers) of The Clash's "Lost In The Supermarket" while between much more is Lett's exclusive rendition of Big Audio Dynamite's debut hit, "E = MC2". In Don Letts we trust.

Review: Next up from the fantastic CAPITOL 1212 we have two very interesting creations, celebrating the sounds of dancehall and reggae on the airwaves. We kick off with the sounds of 'Where I'm At', featuring guest vocals from both Donald D and Daddy Scotty, providing rave-ready flows over an easy skanking instrumental structure. The B-side however is where things get interesting as we hear Daddy Scotty let loose a rapid fire burst of bars toasted lyricism over two classic reggae riddims, replicating the sounds of a live radio set of 'Live On BBC Radio'. Very cool indeed!

Review: The futuristic dub stylings of renowned imprint: Scotch Bonnet are back on display with some serious style as the team gather up twelve tracks for their explosive second edition of the 'Puffers Choice' compilation series. There are refined dubstyle flavours throughout, with our immediate favourites coming from Wolves and Bo Johnson, who provides innovative grooves and creative melodies on 'Follow Me', whilst Chief Rockas and Supercat combine on the dancehall stylings of 'Dance Inna New York'. The dark vocal pressure of General Jah Mikey also deserves a mention as he provides the fire alongside Naram on 'Ites, Green & Gold'.

Review: Capitol 1212 draw another scorcher from their acclaimed LP 'The Return Of Rudy Nacho, seeing the lads team up with UK All Star and all-round legend 'Mr. Badman' Tenor Fly on a jump up UK junglist tip. The tenor is in a reflective mood as he sends an empowering message to his fellow brothers and sisters over a tear-out beefy riddim set straight for the dancefloor. On the remix side of things a bouncing dub-wise version from Montreal's jungle don RCola breaks the junglist mould before Belgium's favourite beatsmiths the Turntable Dubbers smash things up in a Latin style. Cumbia gets experimental with a host of tweaked effects, meanwhile Dublin's Dirty Dubsters lace the Tenor's lyrics on a dancehall riddim with squelching synths and sub bass to round things off. Things just got hot!

Review: Edinburgh-based production duo Capitol 1212 (AKA producers Professa Fresh and Fly T) has been offering up reggae, dancehall and dub-influenced club fodder since the tail end of the 2000s. Here, they present their first album for Irish Moss Records, a self-proclaimed "tribute to soundsystem culture". In effect, that means a festival-friendly sprint through straight-up reggae, reggae-jungle, dubwise breaks, carnival-bating dancehall and booming reggae-influenced hip-hop. It's not subtle, but it is a whole heap of fun, with a stellar list of guest vocalists - MAD, Tenor Fly, Million Dan and Daddy Freddy included - swinging by to add to the celebratory, Boomtown-friendly vibe.

Review: It's a proper Celtic hoedown with Scotland's Capitol 1212 teaming up with Irish Moss for "Worldwide Echo". It's a match made in heaven as the in yer face D&B of the former blends perfectly with dubby vibes of the latter. There's plenty to choose from on the remix front too, from the classic dub of Tuffist & Max Powa to the breaky funk of Funkanomics via the pumpin' UKF beats of Juice Forever.
