Review: Following a fine outing on Phantasy Sound last year, CC: Disco re-emerged earlier this year with 'Magic (Is In The Tempo), a killer collaboration with Jennifer Loveless that combined her love of all things Balearic with an instinctive feel for the dancefloor and nods to both sunrise-ready house and early '90s synth-pop B-sides. Fittingly, that track gets another airing on her latest release (track two), but it's opener and title track 'Guitar Hero' that we'll focus on. It sees the Europe-based Aussie wrap echoing piano riffs, psychedelic electronic noises, trippy effects and, you guessed it, guitar textures around a quality Korg M-1 style organ bassline and snappy house beats. It's a little more muscular and more thickset than 'Magic (Is In The Tempo)', but every bit as fun.

Review: Now based in Lisbon, CC: Disco cut her teeth years ago back in her native Australia before moving to Europe to DJ. Now she's focusing more on production and here inaugurates a new label, Miami Daddy, via a single that she says combines three of her favourite things: "Balearic, percussion and female energy". The track, which blurs the boundaries between saucer-eyed sunrise house, tactile nu-disco, loved-up Balearica and some of the Pet Shop Boys' more club culture-inspired turn-of-the-90s B-sides, is available in three variations: the original mix, a slightly superior 'Extended Mix' that allows CC:Disco's fine groove a bit more room to breathe, and the ambient house style reprise that is the luscious 'Midnight Mix'.
