Review: The Train Recordings team have done a very good job with this latest compilation collection, welcoming 25 pulsating originals to the table across a wide range of artists. The range of production talents involved is pretty outstanding, with the likes of Ceph, Jaxx, Phantom Warrior, Insize Dub, Top Dolla and many more all providing welcome additions to the tracklisting. For us, there are a couple of immediate stand outs, from the industrial sounding drum designs and breathy percussive blows of 'Time To Go' from Spektral, to the sub-busting synth sizzles of Ickleman's 'Open The Hatch' and of course, the spooky organ leads of Dub General's 'World Of Confusion' to match. A very full collection indeed.

Review: With this release, Walking Dead Recordings have decided to represent the younger generation of jump-up producers, the hungry kids that are pushing the limits of how nuts jump-up can get before we all suffer immediate cardiac arrest. Eazy's 'Heat Ray' has that deeply satisfying, grating feeling to it that's reminiscent of a Bou tune, that feeling of frequencies just being pushed to their absolute limit. This is a common factor across the other three as well, in particular Simskai's 'Obey', which, with glitching complexity, fills that gnarly niche of Belgian jump-up badness. Big EP.

Review: The evil nature of this release is apparent straight away, its artwork featuring a ghoulish, smiling goblin who's devilish character spreads easily into the tunes. 'Hobgoblin' itself is snarling and pissed off, a ghoulish blend of synth energy and back end force that twists itself over and under, back and forth. 'Pirelli's Elixir' is equally as insane, a good display of sound design acumen that bodes very well for Ceph's future, as does 'Regular Creepy Smile', a minimal roller that lands with pinpoint precision and delicate yet forceful depth. This is three-tracks of top notch stuff from a relative newcomer - grab it now.

Review: Heist: one of drum & bass's darkest forces behind so many of talent's careers, so many big producer's mixing desks and so many of our go-to bangers... Both as a label owner and producer. Here he plays the role of both as he leads an expertly-curated collection of innovative styles with a breezy vocal soul roller "Never Enough". Bringing up the rear Ceph gets sci-fi and spacious on "Solitude", Simula gets a cosmic funk on with the Lynx-esque "Truth Serum", Skore's fuses classic hardcore dynamics with Detroitian synth tones on "Roger", Metal Work charm us with delicately layered liquid keys on "Simple" and Zere & Gabriel Habit sign off with the darkest cut of the collection. Fresh and full of exciting new talent, Heist is killing it this year.

Review: An immensely enjoyable compilation to stick those hungry chops around, Co-Lab's success has been off the charts over the past decade and this saucy little collection goes some way into explaining why. Kicking off with something smooth and intense from Heist, don't be fooled, this isn't an LP where one sound rules all. Expect fresh liquid rollers, harder, techier beasts, old school, jazz, soul and funk, all cable tied into this one neat package just for you. Isn't that thoughtful?

Review: One of the leading lights to come out the burgeoning Belgian DnB scene Gun Audio deliver 3 heavyweight EP's in quick succession and the first instalment may well be the pick of the bunch. This time drawing for the services of two of the most talented upcoming producers to come out of the Russian Federation in recent years for the aptly titled "Mother Russia EP" for a dance floor damaging six tracker. Lowriderz has given previous work "The Plant" the VIP treatment, his rework of the razor sharp metallic bass and erratic rhythms make a beast of the original. Ceph's "Demons" has a mellow and unassuming intro that will catch the ravers off guard as it bursts into a growling, techy, half time roller.The pair collaborate on "Enormous Weight" and Ceph's tech fuelled basslines are complimented by Lowriderz' signature vocal sampling style, creating something that sounds like a classic Full Cycle track on steroids. "One Big Thing" is an all over the place screwface track, switching and twisting at every possible opportunity. "Python" pairs some seriously low subs with scattered jungle influences. Gun Audio are keeping up their reputation of having one of the finest talent scouting networks in the game!
