Review: This new second edition of the already iconic 'Breaks, Steps & Bass' series from All Colours is very much what the doctor ordered, unveiling a frankly awesome 15 track showcasing, giving numerous different artists an exciting platform to showcase what they do best. The varying styles of this project are what make it immediately special, from the trippy pad curls of Qant's 'The Instruments' original, to the jungle-inspired drum sweeps and reese runs of Charla Green's 'Something Like Love' and of course the old school bass warps of 'Round The Corner' from Zak Smif. There are so many high points to choose from, but for our top two picks, the pure euphoria of Sharpson's epic '2 U' original, along with the old school blippy steppers feel of Sir Rah's wicked 'Close Encounters' original. Top top stuff!

Nothing but pure fire from across the board as each artist works hard to bring their heaviest cuts and sharpest breaks to the ring. Mixed up by Mrs Magoo (who also collaborates on the track 'Big Bout Ya') the whole vibe and energy of this collection hits harder than 100 Fantazias. Highlights include Conrad Subs' super-ravey 'Wildstyle', Euphonique's 'No Problem', ODF's piano-slapping 'Good Times' and Plasmator's lesson in ruffness 'Bad Boy Sound'. Show us your war face!

Very much on the liquid tip, the spellbinding "On The Grind" is an expression in covert breakbeat intelligence that is reminiscent of classic the more detailed and complex sonic expressions from the turn of the millenium, while "Stylee" is a throwback to the jungle heyday of the mid '90s and will step you into a frenzy with its furious Amen riddims.

Review: Not to be confused with the Julia Roberts classic, the Sound of Nuusic isn't a Bavarian epic but instead a UK underground epic of compilation sized proportions, with a whole raft of underground talents offering up a diverse concoction of jungle flavours. With Conrad Subs making several appearances, his stand-out contribution is 'Leave Dem', with a funked-up loping introduction that's seriously smooth but which quickly devolves into a stuttering balance of breaks and reece bass action. There's wicked jungle contributions from Kumarachi and RMS as well as Sheffield upstart Charla Green, whose knock-down breaks carry some serious weight. This is a must-listen for anyone who likes their jungle music.
