On CUFF's latest expansive EP, Medeew joins forces with Chicks Luv Us and vocalist Sergio Diaz to exercise some Mind Control. The title track is a bombastic affair, with Diaz's hazy vocal riding a speaker-bothering bassline, snappy drum beats and mid '90s US garage riffs. Amine Edge and DANCE serve up an even sweatier rework of the same track, peppering the bass-heavy groove with rave era noises and late night stabs. The trio of accompanying bonus cuts contains a nu-garage roller ("Show Me"), a rubbery Hot Creations bubbler ("Club Kids"), and a dash of drowsy, slightly sweet deepness ("Get To You").
Modest French twosome Chicks Luv Us continue their partnership with pal SerGy, who also featured on their previous release, Throw It Up on Safe Music. The Cuff regular's sleazy, spoken word vocals, which encourage a female friend to gobble up party refreshments, take centre stage on "Pop It", a muscular, Twilo-era Tenaglia late night bumper. SerGy's honeyed tonsils get an outing on the impassioned, club love anthem "Right Time", where alien melody lines wrap themselves around the Gallic production duo's crunchy drums, restless bass and held note chords. Both tracks have the feel of tried-and-tested floor fillers.
