Review: Last year Chilly got all up close and personal with the brutal ball-busting 'Close To Me' on a cheeky VIP pack Bruised dished out on Christmas Day. Now the gifts continue as man like Agro brings a little Sub-liminal sickness to the blend with a much moodier, thicker bassline and little glitches into more contemporary jump-up sounds. Laced with loads of little details along the way, Agro's pulled a blinder here. Get close.

Cuts like SHANXX's high voltage 'Tracing', Roche & Teezy's minimalist horn-squeezing strutter 'Neruyoko', FMS's absolutely epic neuro-inspired 'Executioner', Medicine's mischievous screamer 'Badman' and Neffa's bouncy, twisted take on the classic early 2010s jump up sound 'Drill Dub' are just some of the many highlights. Highlights include Jedi's Need For Mirrors-esque tripper stepper 'Guns Of Navarone', Midst's disco-tinged grot on 'Your Ears' and Pruf's firing rave homage 'Flashback'. The list goes on. Review: Audio Overload who have developed a reputation for going in all guns blazing, having released a string of releases over many years which don't play nice with your feelings. Now, they're launching the second part of their Jacked compilations series and it's top quality, with sounds that span a wide variety of styles, from rolling stuff to dirty naughtiness. 'Nuclear Inspectors' by Falco is definitely in the latter category and it's definitely one of the best on the release, with a cavernous bassline of spinning twirls and a pulsating epicentre that pushes out the rest of the track in a slick fashion. One to cop, this.

Review: We're not quite sure how Chilly manages to put out so many releases, to be honest, because they're just always on it. Always on a mix of labels, this time it's Audio Overload. The title track is refreshingly futuristic, creative synth work and stepping drum smacks forming archways of diving bass force, a joy to listen to and we'd imagine pretty devastating on the dancefloor. 'You' sees Chilly on more familiar territory - naughty jump up that makes you want to hit your nan. 'Forget Me' is different again, a pummelling, fluid back end laid out beneath a rolling set of drums. Yes mate!

Review: Dubstomp 2 Bass are the Birmingham based label that have one commitment and one commitment only: getting you out of your seat and onto the dancefloor. Chilly is their latest purveyor of pure heat and he's doing so over a two-tracker, the first of which is classic D2B: a gargling, subby bassline and unrelenting destruction in 170 form. 'Listen' is a tad more melodic but doesn't ease back on the weightiness, its big, soaring bass hits rising and falling all over the arrangement. Unreal.

Review: Just when you thought the winter couldn't get any bleaker along comes Chilly with an icicle reach-around. Usually spotted on Dubstomp 2 Bass, here he makes his debut on Audio Overload with two more frozen funk-ups. "OMG" has that classic turbine sizzling bass groan bedrock, big laser strikes and creepy vocal elements while "Voices" kicks off with a warped bassline riff but soon irons out the creases in your soul with some disarming chimes and precision positioned breaks. Shiver your timbers mate.

Review: Dubstomp 2 Bass are the Birmingham based imprint of madmen who, day-in-day-out, push forth some of the vilest beats known to both the Midlands and the UK more broadly. Chilly is their latest alumni and, judging from this EP, he's graduating with a first in D&B studies. 'Unknown' is the standout tune from the album, a deep and dark roller that sits comfortably within current D&B trends and which hits harder than a train that's just gone off the rails, its knockout snare drum and monochromatic bassline effortlessly moving about the arrangement. 'No More' and 'System' are the naughty kids of the groups and they know it, whilst 'You Don't Know' is another vicious rolling little number. Cop this one.

Review: Calling all proper headcases! New Dubstomp 2 Bass resident Chilly brings a glacial funk agenda to the table and you're going to need to hear this. "Messed Up" (with Falco) lives up to its name with an untamed bass, sudden vocal drops and strange twists in the tale while "They're Here" (with Evil Intention) is an all out laser fest that fires rounds off in all directions with its eyes closed... But still hits the target every time. Icy, spiky and cold to the done... Just how we like it.
