To Rack & Ruin Vol 5
Chris Massey - "In Zaire" - (5:41) 100 BPM Hot
Oosh! - "What's That You're Doing" - (7:05) 107 BPM
Review: The Rack & Ruin edits offshoot of Mancunian club/label El Diablo's returns in triumphant form with two heavy duty reworks that will find favour with many disco selectors. El Diablo's Social Club's very own Chris Massey leads the way, tackling the Johnny Wakelin classic "In Zaire" and turning the chugometer up to 11 - expect to hear this up and down the Croatian coastline this summer. Massey's contribution is complemented by Oosh! who are a new name to us, but their edits seemingly have been racking up plenty of plays on Soundcloud. Take a listen to their heavily phased and filtered tweak of McCartney and Wonder's early 80s jazz funk boogie jammer "What's That You're Doing".

Driven Crazy
Nectar Love (original mix) - (6:45) 100 BPM
Nectar Love (Leon Sweet's Acid Steppa mix) - (6:53) 108 BPM Hot
Review: Chris Massey makes his debut on the always wacky Paper Recordings - a label known for its unpredictable yet marvellous signings - with two tracks of simple but effective deep house cuts for the smaller hours. Fans of Vakula or anything on Firecracker should definitely give this one a listen. You get two remixers to top it all off: 2 Million Beats goes for a disco on "Driven Crazy" and "Nectar Love" receives a fine acid rewiring by Leon Sweet.

Trash The Wax Volume 1

2 Billion Beats - "See Us Through" (feat Mariette Smith) - (8:28) 105 BPM
Rubberlips - "Inspiration" (feat Jessica Frank) - (5:54) 100 BPM
Gran Turismo - "The Peach" (original mix) - (5:01) 106 BPM
Review: Paper Recordings' reputation precedes them in house circles. Now however, they've bitten the bullet and dived into the deep end of the disco pool with this compilation (on sub label Paper Disco) of current nu-disco producers and edit heroes. It's a brave comp that tackles every interpretation of disco, including 2 Billion Beats' deep '80s synth groover "See Us Through", Richard Seabourne's bizarre funk-goes-doomy 303 workout "This Is Acid" and Mezman's bass heavy, dream-pad odyssey. We're looking forward to plenty more disco thrills from this new stable!
