After an initial slurry of releases for Australia's Future Classics, Chrome Sparks returns to the label with yet more his signature house magic, a fresh and ethereal blend of sonics that work just as well off the floor as they do on it. "Moonraker" starts off with an alternate version, full of sparks, energy, twisted chords and slicing percussion; the remixes come first from Pascal, who drops a heady, dubber mix, and from Lauer Acid, who goes for the mystical and deep. There's also the original mix to "Moonraker", just as good as the alternate, but perhaps even more suited to the dance floor formula.
Chrome Sparks is Brooklyn based Jeremy Malvin who presents the first track from his debut album forthcoming on Counter Records. Inspired by a background in classical percussion and an obsession with synthesizers, Malvin creates dazed, melodic beat-centric tunes that loosely hang between down-tempo head nodders and up-tempo club "angers. "I Just Wanna" is an irresistible serving of pop-inflected, bass driven electronica awash in squeaky synths, ethereal pads and immaculate rhythm arrangements.
