Review: It's a very exciting time to be a part of the UKG scene at the moment, as we see an enormous rise in the output of multiple labels and producers, the latest of which comes to us from 2TUF4U who push forward the latest album project from CJ Reign, a garage head who is receiving a lot of well deserved praise. The album is a real lesson in expanding a genre, as we see a full range of UKG on display, from the clever, clicky compositional structures of 'Falling Into You' and '2-4-7', to the more classic 2-step vibes of 'Broken' and more. For us the standout on this one has to be the super creative reesey twists of 'Certificated Day', which keeps us guessing from start to finish.

Review: Not only does this 18-track album promise an excellent selection of music, but the accompanying one-hour mixed version is mixed by DJ Kumatozz, who weaves the lush, blissed out sounds seamlessly together for the ultimate listening experience. Brought to you on the Bass Machine imprint, expect spaced out atmospherics, sonorous vocals and deftly placed beats to predominate, alongside some more pumping 4/4 beats to get the party started. The album kicks off with It Was Ted - "Crush" and takes us through such moments as Pledge - "Be Alrite (Arrows Of Time remix)" with is ticking beats and hypnotic rhythms, to SoundBwoy Addiction - "Jungle Sess (Private Mix)" which takes things a bit more streetwise with a clear grime influence. A lovely array of sounds are on offer here - be sure to check out the mix as well.
Review: Mixed live by DJ Beenie, Garage Kiss: Sounds of the Underground Vol. 1 is a compilation that features 25 of the garage underground's biggest tracks, showcasing the best of the new wave of UK garage talent. Highlights include The Next Room's "Turning Point", whose horn samples recall Roy Davis Jr's classic "Gabriel", Fuzzy Logik's "Playground", which weaves a tightly rolling UK Funky beat and fat bassline around Myshy's catchy vocal action and jazzy, bright synth melody, and Danny B-Line's refix of Redlight's "Source 16", wrapping a bass squelch around rave whistles and hollow snares. As skillful as DJ Beenie's mixing is, the superb selections also come as unmixed original tracks.
