Review: Previously spotted on Pick The Lock back in 2021 collaborating with Amplify, Clarkey follows up recent releases on Next:Gen and Eternal with this humungous set of solo tracks and collaborations. Naturally vibes are high and the mood is uncompromising as cuts like 'Death Wish' come barking out of the gates like a pack of rabid wolves. Elsewhere we have a whole gamut of collabs including an intense slap-about with Magenta ('Back On The Streets') and a rave-heavy laser-blazing tear-up with BlckHry ('To The Beat'). Naughty.

Review: With longer-play projects becoming more and more welcome again within the D&B space, this latest epic from the Pick The Lock crew sees Clarkey deliver six fiery spice boxes. Opening up with the awesome title track 'Intoxicated Dream', we are greeted by a fusion of clicky synth crunches and acidic drips, followed by the neurotic-influxes and percussive mastery of 'Step Up. Next, collaboration time as Warhead arrives for some additional magic on the synth-driven 'Cry For Help', followed by 'The Exorcist' with its gnarly bass crunches and 'Voicemail', a sweeping epic, featuring additional collaborative efforts from Noxxic. Finally, 'Cacaphony' sends the entire EP into a different dimension with a brain-crunching combination of sliding bass synths and gnarly subs, rounding off this EP in serious style.

Review: Manchester mandem Sola rally up the troops for their label's largest VA to date - the 'Fresh Music Annual 2022'. Emphasis on the word fresh; the tracklist reads like who's who in new-gen D&B from Shayper to Vektral to Perplex to Nvrsoft to Plasmator and many more in between. Complete with some wise and slightly older sages in the game such as AJ Mutated, Dilligent Fingers, ESKR and K Jah, the album packs a powerful punch and does an excellent job reflecting the whole spectrum of the genre from tear-up dancefloor danger ('Crank It') to cosmic ('Surgical') to emotional and funky ('A Bad Feeling') to classic late 2000s hurricane soul music ('Slow') A beautiful snapshot of a vital scene in the best health right now, big up Grand Theft Audio.

Review: Clarkey gets busy on Subway with some of his sharpest jams to date. 'Captain Needa' sets the pace with its needle-like bass stabs and tense electrical surges. The energy remains up top throughout; 'Fate' plays with a smouldering vocal hook before going full neon lasers and a super dreamy breakdown while 'Euphoria' plays the long game with a massive build up that teases throughout the track while 'World Is Ending' brings the EP to a triumphant finale with its murderation sample and a strident sense of drama.
