The Remixes II
Various
Dirt Crew - "Get Raw" (Patrice B?umel & Nuno Dos Santos Threesixty remix) - (8:15) 125 BPM
Steffen Nehrig - "Caesar" (Dirt Crew Space dub) - (10:41) 125 BPM
Review: As the title suggests, this action-packed, 15-track collection offers up a swathe of hand-picked remixes from the Dirt Crew Recordings catalogue. Presenting a range of complimentary takes on house music but rooted in the label's deep and occasionally disco-tinged philosophy, there's naturally much to enjoy. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the colourful nu-disco-meets-piano-house flex of Lorenz Rhode's revision of S3A's 'Clarence J Bootlicker', a gorgeous, glassy-eyed Balearic house tweak of Rhode's own 'And I Said' courtesy of Tensnake, Leaves and Iron Curtis's ultra-dreamy and tactile take on The Tortoise's 'Lost Forever', a squelchy and locked-in Motorcitysoul re-rub of Dirt Crew, and Nebraska's inspired rework of 'Peach Shuffle' by Damp? [sic].

Bondax - "Don't Want It" (extended mix) - (4:09) 127 BPM
Charlie Hepworth - "It's Satisfaction" - (6:07) 126 BPM
Italoconnection - "All Over" (Future Disco edit) - (5:21) 127 BPM
Mix & Fairbanks - "Messenger" (feat Hugo Revolon - extended mix) - (5:14) 126 BPM
Eynka - "Ascendance" - (3:50) 127 BPM
Review: The Future Disco crew has thrown open the doors to their imaginary 'Mirrorball Motel', a roadside hotel for disco misfits that's far more glamorous than it is sleazy (unlike most real-life motels). The 20-track musical accompaniment takes disco, boogie and nu-disco and bends it into fresh new shapes, with plenty of excitable house grooves and funk-fuelled peak-time workouts. Highlights include, but are in no way limited to, the Reflex's squelchy rework of Roisin Murphy's 'Incapable', the hands-in-the-air rush of Saison's 'Rocinate', a fine neo-Italo throb-job from Breakbot & Yuksek ('Taqa'), the glassy-eyed Balearic disco/deep house fusion of Bondax ('Don't Want It') and the yacht disco-influenced sunshine of 'Strangers' by Kosmo Kint and Kapote.

Pearls EP
Pearls (feat Jessica Roch) - (7:10) 126 BPM
4 Time - (5:38) 127 BPM Hot
Review: Clive From Accounts is quite possibly the coolest Clive you'll ever meet, even though his real name is Richard. He's certainly been on entertaining form of late, following up a couple of killer EPs (on Outplay and Razor N Tape Reserve respectively) with a 12" single created entirely from Alan Partridge samples (really). He continues his fine form on this Dirt Crew label debut, opening with the immersive, atmospheric, tech-tinged deep house bliss of 'Pearls', which sounds like his take on some of Orbital's more picturesque mid-'90s tunes and features some lovely vocalisations from Jessica Roch. '4 Time' brilliantly joins the dots between the house-not-house brilliance of Metro Area and swinging jazz-house, while 'Rough & Tough' is a bouncin' and bumpin' slab of jaunty deep house joyful deep house jauntiness.

Family Affair Vol 1
Various
Lay-Far - "Acid-Funk Bass Extended Tool" - (5:06) 129 BPM Hot
Review: It's taken a while, but Razor N Tape has finally decided to drop a compilation after years spent serving up tasty EPs. Made up entirely of previously unheard fodder, Family Affair Volume 1 giddily flits between delay-laden proto-house brilliance (Dimiti From Paris and DJ Rocca, JKriv dubbng out Sentimental Animals), slo-mo deep house/deep nu-disco fusion (Clive From Accounts), jazzy head-nodders (Ben Sun), dubby hypno-house (Misiu), string-drenched peak-time house creepiness (Eli Escobar and Lauren Flax), Escort style disco-boogie revivalism (Saucy Lady), Afrobeat (Jungle Fire), extra-percussive tropical disco (Daniel T in re-edit mode) and loopy, acid-fired breakbeat house deepness (Lay-Far). In other words, it's a fantastic collection of cuts tailor-made for sweaty dancefloors.

Strictly Business EP
Yukon - (4:47) 129 BPM
Review: With this entertaining EP, former Outplay contributor Clive From Accounts becomes the latest producer to contribute to Razor N Tape's excellent Reserve series of original productions. He's delivered a sublime EP all told, with opener 'Tell Me' providing a near perfect blend of driving disco-house, saucer-eyed deep house and foreboding, warehouse-ready motifs. He opts for a breezier, jazzier and more colourful deep house sound on bona-fide ear-pleaser 'Without Your Love', dives into deeper waters via the dusty deep house/jazz-funk fusion of 'Strictly Business' and looks skywards on spacey closing cut 'Yukon', a thoroughly emotive and intergalactic breakbeat roller.

Cooking The Books EP
Altar - (5:09) 125 BPM
Review: As Clive From Accounts, Richard Day has previously delivered a handful of EPs for the likes of Outplay and No Brainer Records, all of which are vastly more fun than Excel spreadsheets, expenses forms and tax returns (though, to be fair, that's not a high barrier). He's at it again here via a Dirt Crew Recordings debut that adds spacey synth synths and electrofunk flourishes to a delicious deep house base. Our pick of a very strong bunch is opener 'Toucan', a gorgeous mix of intergalactic deep house tropes, undulating analogue bass and restless disco cowbells, though the more colourful 'Gravitate' and electro-influenced 'Altar' are also excellent. Dan Only remixes 'Toucan', re-framing it as a UKG-influenced, techno-tempo bumper full of deep sub bass, bouncy beats, warped electronics and deep space chords.

The Trouble With Clive EP
Keep Movin' - (5:43) 125 BPM
The Trouble With Clive - (5:41) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Clive From Accounts filing out the office for another weekend with three tracks for all the self-isolating dancefloors going down right now. Essential bassline house all the way in "Keep Movin" with vocal cuts, samples and textures to boot! A bigger, more cosmic and Italo approach finds its way to the title track with deeper, spacier elements the kicker here. Add the slightest of French touches to the filtered loops, faded chords and enormous swathes of bass in "Bisous", and Clive From Account keeps the books balanced with a successful follow up EP to 2018's Uno.
