Review: This is Mord's most ambitious venture to date, with a box set of seven records laying out the Dutch imprint's tough techno agenda. Regulars like UVB and Radial set the tone, with the former dropping brutish kicks and jarring riffs on "Someone Calling Cut" and Radial veering into a pumping direction on "Cru".Label owner Bas Mooy moves the compilation towards a more streamlined approach with the dense, linear Klockworks-like "Owl In Daylight", but Herdersmat also shows that the label has succeeded in attracting some heavyweight international talent; Eomac's "Phisk" is a disorienting rave-flecked stepper and Sleeparchive drops the bleep-heavy bomb that is "Evicted".

Review: Here, digital DJs get a rare chance to own a slew of previously vinyl-only plates from Mala's Medi Musik imprint. Deep Medi Releases 3 continues the format of its two predecessors, including cuts from 12" singles released in 2008 and 2009. For fans of good quality dubstep, it's well worth a look. While there's the odd intense dancefloor wobbler (Goth-Trad's busy "Saturn", Skream's "The Shinein"), there's also plenty of depth, melody and beauty amongst the trademark low-end pulse. Look out in particular for a pair of luscious, emotion-rich cuts from Quest, a pleasing bleep-fest from Truth, and Clouds' brilliantly far-sighted "Protecting Hands" - here available in two stunning mixes.

Review: The tenth anniversary of Perc Trax has provided its owner Ali 'Perc' Wells with the opportunity to release his first ever commercial mix. Using a lot of his own material as well as some smart selections from the label, including Factory Floor's remix of Forward Strategy Group, Wells acquits himself skillfully. However, it's this collection of unreleased material that really stands out. Veering from Happa and Truss' stomping, distorted techno and the Magnetic North-style kicks of Perc's "Hyperlink" to the frazzled broken beats of Forward Strategy Group and Mick Finesse & Pinion's tracks, it also features the cavernous acid of Drvg Cvltvre's "(I Don't Want To Die In) James Franco's House" and the shock-horror rave stabs of Sawf's "Goves". There's no doubt about it - Perc Trax is celebrating its first decade in typically raucous style.

Review: The last commercial mix that Robert Hood did back in 2008 for Fabric re-ignited his career. Appearing at the tail end of minimalism, its hard-edged sounds provided a welcome relief to the prevailing sound. A decade on, the 66th DJ Kicks finds the Detroit artist once again in firing form. "Focus" signals his intent with its massive siren riff and pounding drums, while "Clocks", which builds and builds to electronic bee swarms, shows that he has lost none of his minimal techno firepower. Sure, there are other fine contributions, like Truncate's sheet metal banger "Terminal 5" and the shadowy riffs of Marcel Fengler's "Thwack" - itself a paean to Dr Motte's "Der Klang Der Familie" - but like the Fabric selection, this instalment of DJ Kicks is all about Robert Hood.

Review: After a sick, twisted EP for Fifth Wall and a raucous LP for Turbo, Clouds are back with another heavy dose of chunky, unadulterated techno filth. All three tracks are peak-time burners, from "Complete Control" with its noisy, morphing texture, through to "2Talisman-Class Destroyer" which gives us some tasty tool action, and the percolated, swarming groove on "39.844g_mol". Clouds mean business once again...

Review: While the Arches has sadly closed, that other great Glasgow institution, Soma, keeps on putting out great music. The label's latest project is Transmissions Glasgow, a compilation of 15 tracks from the city's producers. It is executed in much the same way as one of Slam's flawless DJ sets; beginning with the serene ambience of Edit Select's "iN1" and the fractured, slow-motion beats of Puddledub's "Circling", it moves into the deep, trance house of Dextrous "Station to Station". It wouldn't be a Soma compilation without some techno and this is provided by artists like Deepbass and the brilliantly named Complex Emotional Response, but as always, Slam's take on the form is deeply soulful and emotive, demonstrated here most impressively by Edit Select's percussive but mournful synth-led "Resurface".

Review: Youthful exuberance prevails on Clouds' second release for Soma. Clocking in at over 170bpm, "Teenage Boy" is the opposite of studied restraint, its muddled, muddy break beats and fuzzy percussion providing the basis for a searing bassline that makes No U-Turn sound tame. "Elevator Girl" is also racuous, but this time the duo focus on techno, with malevolent drones and robotic snares interrupted sporadically by screeching breakdowns. "Genista Cave 4" continues in this vein; grainy, distorted kicks that wouldn't sound out of place in an Ancient Methods track support a chopped up vocal and panel-beating percussion. It's the best argument you'll hear this month for the joys of a misspent youth.

Review: Clouds, Quail and Turtle inaugurate their new Headstrong imprint after a series of parties in Glasgow with the same name. As you can tell by the artists on on offer here: it's gonna be a pretty noisy affair. first you will find preferred special guest from London Randomer: who goes straight for the jugular on "Myanmar" galloping like a racehorse through your speakers and supported by immaculately programmed polyrhythms and druggy vocal loops. Unlike the previous title, it's actually "Spooky Hermann" that delves into the exotic; with its hypnotic tribal rhythms and Millsian melody that slowly and woozily drifts out of tune: very clever. Then, the Perth Drug Legends aka Clouds deliver the school yard anarchy of "Overflow Ya": a rapid fire attack to the senses, followed by the body-bashing peak time assault that is "Nitrous & Oxide".

Review: Twenty-five years is a long time in any field. In the fast-moving world of electronic music, it's practically an eternity. That Turbo has managed not just to last that long but also to remain fresh says a lot about Tiga's immaculate A&Ring. On Turbo 25, we see the form this takes. There's "You So Pretty", his cheeky electro collaboration with long-time Turbo collaborator Jori Hulkkonen. Audion and Seth Troxler also celebrate the landmark anniversary with the searing techno of "Hate", while The Hacker goes down the industrial route with the slamming "Forcefield". Tiga continues to flirt with pop with the Soulwax edit of "Woke". However, the fact that he has commissioned Gesloten Cirkel of Murder Capital fame to rework "Easy" means he remains as connected as ever with techno and electro's underground. Here's to the next quarter century.

Review: A major talent that's been snapped up by Tiga's Turbo label after releases on Southern Fried and Blood Music, the long-awaited Numbers EP has finally dropped and it's a wonked-out techno gem with support from Boys Noize, Fake Blood, Proxy and Annie Mac. The Scottish duo recall Tiga's own ZZT version of "Lower State of Consciousness" on the title tune, while "Sucker" begins with a severely beat-mashed vocal before elegantly dropping into a fierce, dry techno kick replete with subtle yet outstanding bass sounds. "Fibre" is a stripped-down succession of killing acid rises, while "Been Warned" is horror-tech of the finest, edgiest kind.

Review: As one of the first labels to springboard off of the creative potential of dubstep, Ramp has hit release number 50 and what better way to celebrate than by looking back over some of the strongest tracks they've put out in six years. In terms of style, no one track is easy to pinpoint let alone the whole compilation, as you would expect from the likes of Zomby, 2562, Ras G, Doc Daneeka and lots more. The unifying theme would be one of bright, colourful but most importantly imaginative electronic that favours the bump n grind to the all out stomp.

Review: New Clouds material from Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson can mean only one thing: these things will go quick, and as you can imagine, you'll want to get them in your DJ sets just in time for the NYE debauchery. The duo land on British techno imprint Overlee Assembly, kicking the carnage off with a Perc remix of "Tuned To A Dead Channel", something of a toxic headbanger with a gnarly bass at its core. This is followed by a much sleeker, more restrained Tuned version of "Chained To A Dead Channel", and then by a jungle/breakcore driven version from Headcore Wreckage, and an acid-laden, drum-nutty hardcore Tuned Again version. Murder.

Review: Kobosil's label delivers the third edition of the Sektion compilation. As with previous volumes, there are well-known contributors. OBU and Krl Mx both deliver slamming industrial techno on "Wir Sind Die Nacht" and "Techno Tool For Trashkids" respectively. In Verruf opts for a different approach. On "Frei", soaring synths combine with screeching vocals, making for an epic, rousing affair.
There are also some newer contributors. These include Warin D, who drops the gabba-influenced banger "I Apologize For My Acid" and SZG, whose "Parametric" integrates tranced out synths into a pulsating, throbbing groove. Like every release on R-Label Group, each track on Sektion 3 is sure to cause dance floor mayhem.
