Review: Whenever Commodo comes to town, it's time to stop what you are doing and find a speaker box immediately, with this unmissable Black Acre drop once again proving why his sound is so highly respected. We begin with 'Deft 1's', a gnarly title track focussing on haunted guitar riffs, sweeping subs and perfectly crunchy drum textures, before the more experimental tempo and rhythms of 'Forester' take us on an entirely different type of thrill ride, focussing on blippy drum sounds and an almost D&B sense of rhythm. Finally, the knee-jerking melodic twangs and grizzly bass inversions of 'Living Bones' give us one last dose of Commodo weight, before signing off this masterclass in style.

Review: When you see the names Commodo and Sector 7 Sounds on the same page you instantly become excited as a 140 music fan. This latest offering is exactly what the doctor ordered as the A-side 'Scabz' once again explores the magnificent production mindstate of Commodo, linking distant, bubbly melodic plucks with grizzly sub-bass pounds below a shaker-heavy rhythm section. The flipside 'Guah' is a much more classic sounding Commodo original, with washes of unique percussion giving the track an instant level of depth between unpredictable high ended stabs and more subtle-subby goodness. Incredible stuff from two of the most consistent names in 140!

Review: A producer to go down in the folkloric pages of the UK's deep dubstep and soundsystem culture through releases on label like Deep Medi, Hotline Recordings and Black Acre, it's the latter that's housed the producer's darkly motifs and sub frequencies this last half-decade. Stakeout provides a follow up to this year's already lauded Loan Shark EP, with Stakeout here offering heavily swung percussive fields, dubbed out synths and reflections of new music experimentalisms in " Transit" alongside the subterranean rhythms, amplifier gristle and expletive samples of "Crooked Law". With the EP seemingly playing with masked themes of jungle warfare that sits somewhere between the smokey hip hop of Cypress Hill and the Prodigy's "Minefields", Commodo once again pulls the mask down and goes deep behind enemy lines in the title-track with a touch of strangeness and funk.

Review: Deep Medi Musik's northern correspondent Commodo truly impressed with the Commodo double pack that surfaced earlier this year, ensuring expectations are at a premium as he returns to Mala's label for a third outing. Over the course of its six years of existence to date, Deep Medi has increasingly become relied upon for those seeking out some proper 140bpm head business and Buckwild ensures standards are maintained with drums that constantly threaten to veer off grid under pressure from the densely layered, cluttered percussion and low end bass that only reveals its true power on a worthy system. There's a drunken funk to the twisted flow of the track that will appeal to many, and it's complemented by "Axis" with a tighter, metallic flex that swaggers forth as Commodo flickers between strange dubbed out refrains.

Review: Mala's Deep Medi Musik stands up to the quality test once again with this superb offering from Commodo. Kicking off with a disorientating tribal drone and soft, tripping beats pattering away like some kind of mesmerizing chant, "Uprising" is a deep, deadly riddim which just oozes late night vibes. A delicate sweep of oriental strings interjects at times along with some rumbling sub bass for power. "Saracen" too takes us on a journey into the deep, dark and dubby with warped bass groans, crisp breaks making sense of an unnerving soundscape. Excellent.

Review: Champion of dark, tough and considered dubstep, Distance provides the latest instalment in the much loved Dubstep Allstars mix series. It's fairly typical fare from the Chestplate boss man, with tough steady rhythms underpinned by that particularly distorted kind of bassline. There are a number of highlights, most notably Commodo's "Surveillance" which has a rolling break woven into the mix. Cyrus' "Looking Back" also impresses as it purrs away with a gorgeously warm, rich synth line. The biggest surprise is probably Distance's own remix of trance bods Above & Beyond. It's certainly as 'big room' as you'd ever imagine Distance getting!
