Review: Congi has been without a doubt one of the most impressive names to emerge out of the dubstep scene in the last few years, with their vibrant take on the genre exploring such a wide range of instrumentation. This latest LP delivery on Fent Plates is a testament to their versatility and creativity, with the title track 'Grow' giving us an initial malaise through windswept drumlines and syncopated saxophony, followed by square-wave driven arpeggios of 'Spaces Between' and the stunning key-led soundscaping of 'Ache' alongside Taiko. Next, the delicate melodics and jittering fx of 'Travellin'' gives us another emotional rush, with the beautiful vocal sampling of 'Scattered' and abstract bass designs of 'Today' then closing off the EP with a real sense of style and finesse. This is an absolute win for the Fent Plates team.

Review: Well following on from a number of impressive dubstep events across the full spectrum of the scene, The Deep Heads team have matched that all with this incredible new compilation as they deliver the third edition of their incredible 'Deep Heads' series. This star-studded lineup is pretty breath-taking, with the likes of Kromestar, Biome, Om Unit, Sukh Knight, Synkro & more all delivering some serious bassweight. The tracklisting is made up of 24 wicked originals, with our favourites actually coming from some of the lesser established faces on the project. These include the likes of Mystic State's sumptuous 'Society' original alongside Astrid, which boasts serious 'Anti-Social' vibes. As well as this, the more stripped back, garage influenced drums of Clubroot's 'Harmony' and dancing percussion of 'Traps' from Escapism Refuge also sit as highlight picks for us!

Review: Up until now, Zha's White Peach imprint have always found a way to up the levels on each release that lands. They have achieved this once as again as the incredible combination of De-Tu & Congi land for a momentous four track display of steppers excellence. We begin with 'Off My Chest', a quirky, choppy roller, graced with an intense vocal line that just elevates the track to legendary levels, followed by the much more stripped back and slower tempos of 'Shallow Waters', showcasing the pairs musicality as much as anything. The pair then roll out solo as De-Tu firstly delivers a more classic sounding steppers roller next on 'When Will We', matched by 'Tides', Congi's grizzly exploration through super-syncopated rhythms and organic percussion. Lovely stuff!

Review: It was back in 2012 that Congi debuted on the Deep Heads label with three cuts of classic dubstep, and with the likes of Kromestar, Syncro to Ash Walker in between contributing titles, the Congi duo double down on their 2019 Somnium release with a sweetly atmospheric, jazzed and dub-focused third release, Sometimes Forever. With reflections of pitch-shifted, post-dubstep styled vocals sweetening up the lush textures of crackle and bass in the title-track, find some playful, R&B-esque and emo-tuned melodies in the spacious arrangements of "Cold Water". "Thoughts" delivers the EP with a long winding deep house and ambient jazz number while "Interlude" provides a dense and opulent beatless bonus track for the storytellers out there.

Review: Well, if it's the deeper shade of dubstep that you like to bask under, then the Fent Plates seems like a more than suitable DJ's destination. The fresh and energetic imprint returns to our charts with Disparity Of Time, a collaboration between its most productive artists and bass-smiths. Kaido's "Me" opens the 6-tracker with a sweet, seductive two-step ballad, which is followed by Occult & Menik's more mesmeric shades of haromies on "By The Way", and climaxed by Raiku's meditative IDM glitch through "Waiting Bells". Congi's "Somewhat Of A Story" makes it clear that this EP deals in the more experimental side of bass thanks to a stop-start rhythm of the highest calibre, whereas Myst and Aether's own tunes culminate in a dramatic blend of sounds that takes Fent Plates onto new and unchartered territories. Not your average bass label.

Review: Fent Plates have created for themselves a beguiling world of Gothic, atmospheric beats and artwork. Here Nottingham duo Congi feed straight into that world perfectly. With six tracks on here it almost qualifies it as a mini-album. Some particularly intoxicating cuts featured on the LP include the dreamy jazz fog of "Contours", the fizzy, stoner synth-pop of "Easy To Tell" and the slow and moody panpipe joint "Only You". Once you visit their world, you won't want to go home.

Review: Nottingham's Congi are duo Chord Marauders and Mimm Collective, who have got many heads nodding (out) to their killer releases on Deep Heads. Here though, they've aligned with Pressed for two slo-mo plunges into the deep end: "Paragon" is all echoes of urban ghosts and undulating bass, whilst "Disorder" features scattered stop/start beats and suspended synth suspense.
