Review: This week on French nu-disco merchants Citizens Of Vice, we have the enigmatic Coyote with four servings of proper sunset balearica on the As The Crow Flies EP. Starting off with the lo-slung poolside groove of the title track, which is perfect for chilling, and receives a euphoric ambient rework by Chris Coco. Second offering "Steely Dad" will take you to a higher state of consciousness with its hypnotic textures and trippy acid sounds underpinned by mesmerising polyrhythms. The remix up next by Secret Soul Society is much more off-kilter and experimental in slo-mo fashion.

Review: UK duo Coyote have pretty much become the unofficial Balearic kings of the post 2000 era. Through their releases on Is it Balearic?, Coyote have kept the Spanish islands' tradition alive and kicking, and it's clear that they are mong the few to truly understand what constitutes a Balearic tune and what doesn't. This is not for us to worry about; the only thing we're concerned about is how stunning this new "Cairo" single is, a long, explorative journey of a track that uses a wide array of musical tones to express that inimitable style that can be heard at early mornings on an Ibizian beach. Gorgeous guitar riffs, progressive beats, and that laidback style that has come to define their sound. Check the dub, too, for an extra deep sonic massage.

Review: Music for Dreams, the label founded by Kenneth Bager, sets out its stall for the 2019 summer season. It's no surprise that Copenhagen 2019 is a chilled out, unhurried affair. Starting with easy listening pieces from Mike Salta and Phil Mison - the latter's acoustic guitar-led "Morning Lights" is particularly memorable - it moves into low-slung disco courte-sy of the Cheapedits take on Copenema & Thomas Volmer Schulz's "Serei Sei" and the MOR-esque guitar on Rayet's "Marie-Ange" It's sometimes a challenge for chill out compilations not to veer into the wallpaper music category, but Music For Dreams avoids this conundrum with Kojo Antwi's Afro-funk and Djosos Krost's wonderfully dubbed out "That's My Woman".

Review: Sprechen are never afraid to explore electronic music's more leftfield, arty fringes, and you'll find plenty of such shenanigans on this new six-track V/A. Coyote kicks us off with the downtempo drifter 'Cami De Sa Veleta'. Things then get a little more cinematic on La Guardia De La Luz's 'Los Eiyani' before Mummy's Boy's 'Giddy Up' provides the EP's only real dancefloor moment. Popsneon then channel 80s Visage vibes on 'Caffeine Detox', MinimalArchiv's 'The Weak And The True' marries sweeping synths to glitchy beats, before it's back over to La Guardia De La Luz for the inevitable epic closer, 'Libertad'.

Review: Leeds-based DJ/production trio Clandestino clearly knows a thing or two about hard-to-pigeonhole, Balearic-inspired music. The first EP on their offshoot label, released earlier this year, was full of top notch examples, and this follow-up, from Is It Balearic chiefs Coyote, is arguably even better. In its' original form, "Fight The Future" is a deep and spacey acid house shuffler blessed with superb piano flourishes. It's accompanied by a grizzly, heads-down house interpretation from Chida, and a swirling, pitched-down Afro Dub from the trio themselves. Also impressive is the cheery, piano-heavy bonus cut "Endangered Garments", which is accompanied by a thrillingly dubbed-out remix by Selvy.

Review: Timm Sure and Richard 'Ampo' Hampso are Coyote - a deuce of eclectic house music veterans with a love for dub. For this release they team up with Brighton's Higher Love Recordings Weatherall-esque EP. "After All These Years" opens the journey with a some trip-hop-infused skank, featuring Matthew McConaughey's samples from True Detective while "Blowing Through" borrows a poem from Charles Bukowski, effortlessly blending it with bucolic electronic beats and soaring indie-guitar jangles, conjuring a wistful summer vibe. "I Hear A New World" immerses listeners in a grainy, ambient wonderland of ethereal emissions and harmonic hums, while "Next Morning Version" combines orchestral elements with cathartic drumming, creating an emotive fusion of dub, Balearic, and nu-classical sounds.

Review: UK Balearic experts Coyote return to Denmark's Music For Dream label with an excellent remix EP of their equally excellent "Inside This". Thankfully, the original cut is in there, riding its funky, deep bass with style, making this more of an upbeat kinda lick for the livelier downtempo hours. There's a fine batch of remixes, too, with Leo Mas and Fabrice dropping two supremely wavy reinterpretations, the first being deep and moody and the second more bass-prone. Max Manetti drops the final remix and, to our joy, it feels like an extended dub cut of Coyote's original. Stay blessed. Cop this.
