Review: It's very rare we find ourselves disappointed when exploring a new drop from the Basskruit crew, who this time welcome the sounds of Crowley inside for another explosive journey through the dubstep sound. We begin our dive with 'Quill' a quivering shiver through oscillating bass tones and dubwise drum designs, made all the more interesting by it's unpredictable nature. Next, SCHIM92 jumps straight on board for remix duty, giving 'Quill' a more contemporary feel through a number of percussive lines and a charming backdrop of glittering pads. Next, Chendah joins the party on 'Chug', another swirling display of hypnotic bassy goodness, made all the more potent by the chattering hi-hat lines which sit so clearly at the top of the mix. Finally, we tone it down a level for the distorted drum pulses and mechanical rhythms of 'Flesh & Blood', giving us an industrious closer to another top notch selection.

Review: As a genre, dubstep is undeniably in a very strong place right now, with numerous label projects putting together what is arguably their best work. This latest For The Heads compilation is another example of that quality spread coming into fruition, delivering thirteen powerhouse originals for the steppers heads to enjoy. Featuring a roster of Blicka, Karnage, Dayzero, Crowley, Retina and many more heavyweights, this project does exactly what it says on the tin by delivering an array of dubstep originals that "The Heads'' won't be able to resist. Our highlights include the delicate intricacies of Centauri's 'Flight Path', the industrial percussive techniques of '4-ho-met' from Dr. Cloud and of course the spooky-sounding structures of Nizth's 'Meton'. Awesome stuff!

Review: The Duploc imprint has without a doubt been one of dubstep's shining lights over the course of the last few years, both as a label imprint and as a general space to explore steppers music worldwide. This first edition of their new '140 Allstars' compilation series is a perfect example of their explosive range when it comes to releasing music. First up, JSM arrives with his eerie creation by the name of '1893', weaving together bitcrushed synths and stuttered drum runs in style. This is then followed by the quirky melodic twists of 11th Hour with 'Immortals', alongside the minimal and unusual synth shivers of 'Swerve' from Crowley. From here we continue forward into the trappy rhythms and pounding subs of Causa's 'Triple Choc', before the oldschool, DMZ-sounding LFOs of Ome's 'Better Stay Home' and the haunted, metallic slaps of Ninety's 'Snake's Kiss' VIP mix. Exceptional work as per from a top quality imprint.

Review: The consistency with which the guys over at Locus Sound have been moving in recent times is pretty frightening. This latest four tracker from Crowley is another one to add to that list of top quality drops as we kick off with the catchy, woodwind-like melodic designs and scattered drum rhythms of the title track 'O Six Trib'; which comes complete with a percussive-masterclass of an overhaul from the one and only TMSV. From here, 'Rumble' delivers a serious subby punch of speaker-ready power through his rolling bass manoeuvres and minimalist hi hat shuffles, before sharpened drum stabs and hypnotic harmonic structures of 'Underwater' put the icing on the steppers cake.

Review: Following on from a top quality run of drops, we were very excited to see what the Basskruit team had to offer this time as they unveil this spicy four track compilation entitled 'Explosie Vol. 1'. We kick off our exploration with Crowley, who delivers an industrial thumper named 'Grump', stuffed with colourful percussive drags and unpredictable melodic scoops, followed by Beatsforbeaches returning with another unorthodox scorcher in 'Whydah'. Next, we move into the smooth chord progressions and super-scattered rhythms of Zygos who excels on 'Sideways', before the creeping percussive bubbles and hard hitting sub-lines of 'Echolocation' give us a fiery outro.

Review: It's really hard not to love what the team at FKOF have been up to over the past few months, with their release schedule being incredibly consistent to say the least. Their latest drop sees Crowley & E S P join forces across four bangers, starting off with two solo runs from Crowley. Firstly, we hear the moogy subs and minimal drum structures of 'Stoic', leading into 'Luv:Daze Dub' with it's incredibly vibrant melodies and subtle breaksy textures throughout. Next, the pair link up on 'Rosetta', another stripped back yet incredibly potent piece of dubstep design, jam packed with eerie atmospheric delays. Finally, E S P runs out on solo duty with 'Jah', a super organic sounding creation, providing this EP with a perfect finale.
