Review: The thing we have always loved about new Navy Cut drops, is that despite their dubstep-centric positioning, you never quite know what direction they are going to go in. This latest three track wampfest from D-Operation is a perfect example of that, as we open up with the swampy atmospheric swills and grizzly synthetic bass textures of 'Drainage', giving us a mucky introduction to enjoy. From here, the more high-ended bass notation and stripped back arrangements of 'Yumura' deliver a slithery sense of subby goodness, before the twisted distortion and gnarly drum crunches of 'Kakatua' really let loose one final barrage of sub-action to round off the project with a slap.

Review: As always with Moonshine Recordings, we are very excited to jump into this new release which once again gives us a very modern take on dubwise themes and reggae in general. D-Operation is the artist in question who heads up two exclusive remixes of 'Liberation', the first of which features Vale as an official 'Trumpet Version', combining potent basslines and marching drum-lines with powerful horn performance to spin any system. On the flip, Babe Roots and Don Fe give the track a much different feel, slowing everything down and focussing on haunting flute lines and powerful subs below for a much more ethereal vibe. Incredible stuff!

Review: As ever with Moonshine Recordings, they have delivered us a seriously top notch selection as they unveil sixteen tracks of sweet reggae bliss. We have one of a line up on the table as we see names such as G Roots, Frenk Dublin, Blind Prophet, Adam Prescott and more throw us contributions as rootsy flavours are given a 2019 face lift. There are some clear standouts from this work, despite all sixteen tracks being absolute show stoppers, including 6Blocc & General Jah Mikey's system-ready stomper 'Too Rude' and the euphoric horn manoeuvres of 'Enchanted Dub' from Halcyonic, G Roots, Digid & Vale. The whole project is excellent, and we are super stoked to have it available here at Juno Download.

Review: The team at Circle Vision have set out and made a serious statement with this one, as their 'Various Visions' series returns for It's second helping with four fresh originals from four of the coldest in the dubstep scene right about now. We begin with D-Operation Drop who lands a heavyweight punch in 'Fried Chicken' before man of the minute: Zygos appears with a percussive heavy piledriver in 'BAtte noir'. Next up, Hebbe arrives on the scene with a haunted episode of bitcrushed leads and floating subs on 'Sixes & Sevens', before Mrshi sees the EP out in style with his triplet-driven scorcher 'Biter'.

Review: The D stands for deadly... Italian crew D-Operation Drop strike black gold once again with these two bonafide stinkers on Scotch Bonnet-own Scrub A Dub series. A true feast of low end naughty; "Ghori" is the meaty main course, all chewy and full of strong flavours. "Natty Coil" is the pudding; all iced and seemingly chill but packing a sharp bite. Grubs up at Scrub A Dub mate.

Review: Two titans from two sides of the bass Atlantic team up for a seriously sticky situation: "Gorilla Glue". Hairy, scary and endangered, this will have you beating your chest for years to come. The other three tracks are equally beastly. "World 8" is a classic dubwise affair, all stripped back and spooky, "Close Chatter" is real hurricane of ice, skanking and stepping with dramatic mischief while "Crypt" wakes up the dead with its creepy organ textures and abyssal subcraft. This is prime mate.

Review: Lately we've witnessed well-respected dubstep imprints announce their spin-off release series. Subaltern Records is amongst those few, launching its first various artist compilation on the 20th of October 2017. Entitled as "Kaleidoscope" you can expect music from respectively Helktram, D-Operation Drop, ILL_K, Shu and Zygos on Volume 1. Interestingly quite a few new signees are being introduced to Subaltern via this four track EP, which makes us even more excited for the series' future. Briefly, this compilation of different styles and artists, attentively picked by label owner Mentha, is blending all together smoothly like a Kaleidoscope.

Review: After a pair of bruisers for FatKidOnFire and Moonshine Recordings, respectively, D-Operation Drop land on Surfase with four intoxicated bass experiments that give a new step to the term 'dub'; it's worth mentioning that this is the first time that we've heard the genre mix so naturally with industrial shards of noise. "BabylonAB" runs its distorted quasi-beats over sea of cacophonous sonics, while "Know Yourself" most certainly belongs to the two-step side fo the equation thanks to its sharp percussive edges. "Lowkey", as the name implies, takes a much tamer approach to things by landing a dreamy, subtly dubwise riddim that ends up on some dutty bashment vibes, whereas "Wrong Dosage" offers a mechanical stance in what is surely the most tech-heavy moment in this assortment of dub experiments. Large up!

Review: The DUPLOC imprint come in with yet another winner, and 2017 looks set to be the year that this fine independent finally makes it through into the big leagues. After all, If they keep on recruiting peeps like Le Lion and D Operation Group the there's nothing that can stop them! "Breaking Pattern" sees Le Lion blast out some sharp shards of low frequencies over a moody, lingering sort of sonic fuzz that will have fans of Burial salivating good and proper; while the tune itself doesn't rest at a slow pace, it has something real and organic about its choice of electronics. The remix from D Operation Drop lifts the lid on the old hertz by delivering another pounding wave of bass to swallow the dance floor whole. And then sum.

Review: We've got two trips to take back in time to understand the true gravitas of what's going on here... First we head back to 2012 when RDG released the bee's nest rattling original on All Out. Then we leap to 2014 when these remixes came out on limited edition vinyl. Back to the future and each one of the rerubs still sounds way ahead of the curve. Bisweed trips us out with his seasick sonics, D Operation Drop keep the 80s stabs but add a silky funk to the subs, Piezo gets the sledgehammer out while Server gets his loopy techno flex on. Trust- This will still sound future in another 2, 22 or 222 years time.

Review: New artillery of dubstep swelters from the on-fire FatKidOnFire imprint - yessir! Militant bass vibes and deathly percussive stabs all-round with this new four-way compilation from a bunch of newcomers, and it's all very much in the typical spirit of the label. "Fear Spud" by D-Operation Drop is like a war march guided by a band of low frequencies, Iskeletor's "Charizard" is a wild, venomous slice of neuro-funk with a broken beat, while "S.90" by Saule is a more typical dubstep anthem a-la DMZ, and Bukez Finezt goes more acoustic with his harmonious bass experiment tagged "False Friends". Bad.

Each track is a highlight in itself, but it's cuts like the slinky hypnotic groove and cosmic congas of TMSV's "Scorpion", Sleeper's star-gazing, dub-drenched sub science of "Coxsone Dub", Skeptical's lesson minimalism and aggy restraint ("Skavenger") and Eshone's treacle-like dirge "Qualia" that really represent the depth, scope and vision of Artikal.
