Review: Deep in the Jungle have emerged as arguably the biggest standout new jungle label in recent times and, off the back of their growing family of artists, they've decided to try and represent both where the label and the genre are in 2020. With artists from DJ Hybrid, to Conrad Subs and beyond, it's a statement of intent from the imprint. The music reflects that intention as well, with jungle sounds throughout but punctuated with that modern, sharper edge that we've come to expect from our newly revitalised scene. DJ Hybrid's 'On A Riddim' is the best example, as a punchy bass note streams out of a bedrock of clattering breaks, whilst we're seriously digging the rolling reece's of 'The Rhythm' by Conrad Subs. All of these are proper percys.

Review: V Recordings sublabel Chronic has developed a reputation for putting out beats that are even more venomous than its big sister, and their long-standing rollers series is getting a beef up with the fourth instalment. Featuring a litany of acts from a range of eras and a diversity of styles, Chronic Rollers Vol. 4 is a perfect addition to the arsenal of any DJ. 'Blindspot' from Nectax blends a soulful sample with an oscillating warp of juddering bass energy; Mancunian upstart SL8R gets subby and rolling with 'Roundabout'; and Brazilian label long-timers Alibi roll things out tidily on 'Sentinel'. Review: Everyone likes a good compilation, right? What's better than having as big a range of artists as possible in one condensed place? It's essentially an album with the ease of listening of a single, so we're all for it. Subliminal have come out with the 2020 edition in their Riddim Return series and it's packed full of bangers, across a range of styles, and it's one of those albums which doesn't try to be cool or sophisticated by chucking in a few fillers for the sake of diversity - it's just hard stuff here. It works great, with Sam Harris' tendency for muscular minimosity coming on loud and clear on Boom Ting, a wickedly devilish and driving roller.

Conrad Subs is a favourite of ours and his cut, Takeover, is a wicked, deep rolling piece of work that packs a sick bassline, one which makes you think of late-night raving at its finest. Review: Lion Dub have reached a decade of activity. A decade! To put it in perspective, if someone was born the year Liondub started, they're about to enter high school/secondary school. It's a crazy achievement and one matched by the craziness of the music they have on offer to celebrate, a four-part journey through their past, present and future. This instalment is all about their past and it's exemplified best by Serum's VIP of Sound The Alarm, a Liondub classic, which Serum has flipped into a characteristically badboy, stabbing little roller. Review: Deep in the Jungle know how to do jungle. The clue is in the name, really, and they're proving it again with this huge compilation of 40 huge jungle anthems from some of the best rising stars of the breaksy side of the scene. Review: Calling all ragamuffins and roustabouts; DJ Hybrid's 2016 Natty Dub banger gets the treatment from two bonafide roller dons. T>I steps up first with a serious murk of approval as the creepy intro, spoken sample and stripped back nature of the original are maintained but with added clunky drums on the fills and a gnarlier twist to the bass fills. Damageman also maintains the arpeggiated intro but then drops into a classic loose-limbed breakbeat before eventually building into a big juicy synth riff a la BBK circa 2005. Spot on.

Review: DJ Hybrid on Serial Killaz... Before you even press play you know this is going to be trouble. And you'd be right; every track on here is firing lock stock and barrel into the heart of the dance. The title track shows a different side to the Audio Addict / Deep In The Jungle bossman as he gets much moodier, steppier and spacier in the mix than he's done before. It's back by a whole slew of damagers including the outer-planetary wobbles of "Tell You Something" (with Replicant), the gnarly, dog-barking bassline stepper "Push" and a body-slamming ghetto-style rump-shaker "Upside Down" (with My Selecta). And that's barely half of what's on offer here. DJ Hybrid is absolutely slamming it once again this year. And we know he's got plenty more locked in the chamber this year. Skillz!

Review: Everybody loves a good VA, it's just wicked getting a whole big album full of tracks from different artists - the definition of a kid in a candy shop. This one from Uncommon has a cool combination of bigger and smaller acts, from the mighty Kasra to lesser known quantities like Resist. Kasra's 'Needles' is a standout, a fiercely minimal slapper that gargles and gurgles its way straight into your brain, and for anyone that is into the Critical sound: this is the tune for you. Kanine, another rising star, hits hard on 'Searching', a tune that reminds us of the recent Klippee tracks over on Lifestyle Music. All in all, this is a very solid little VA - yes yes!

Review: Deep In The Jungle got picked out by UKF has one of the top labels of 2018 the other week and it's certainly well deserved, for they just consistently bang out some of the most vibey jungle around. They also represent forthcoming artists and we'll always support those who give a platform to people who otherwise might not. The album is a huge fifty tracks, spanning some well-known names like DJ Hybrid, SL8R, Conrad Subs, RMS and Kumarachi. The latter kicks off the album with a bang, 'Have You Here' sweeping down the range with its DLR-esque bassline and riotous attitude. It's a emblematic of the quality present on the rest of the album - check it out.

Review: Do you like venturing deep into the jungle? Well, if you do, make sure you don't get lost - the jungle is massive. Jokes aside, this four-track sampler precludes a full-length release that offers you the exact type of jungle tour you need. Up first is the prolific DJ Hybrid with 'Rumble In The Jungle', a stuttering, rambunctious jungle cut that hits hard and leaves you in a slight state of shock. 'Run Em Out' by Epicentre is full of upbeat ragga vocals and samples, the top-line to a tune that has a ferocious bottom-line pinning it all together over a rolling percussive line. Kumarachi bloody does in on 'Have You Here' and to finish, RMS goes in just as hard on 'Clash Stash'. Top sampler - can't wait for the full thing.

Review: This is an album for any discerning D&B head who has been locked in to the sounds of D&B this year. Featuring the likes of SL8r, Kumarachi, DJ Hybrid, Bou and Stompz, this big LP touches right onto the pulse of where the D&B scene is at the minute: long basslines, raucous atmospherics and downright dirty vibes. Bou provides that from the very start with his remix of 'Raised In The Jungle' by DJ Hybrid and MC Haribo, a full-throttled run through the Mancunian space in the Bou fashion that we all already know and love. 'Liberation' by RMS is another highlight, slightly more stripped back than some of the other offerings but still with plenty of force to go around. This is a fat release.

Review: In terms of legendary status for labels over on the jungle/jump-up side of the scene, it's pretty hard to beat Serial Killaz. Run by the duo of the same name, the imprint has arrived with the second instalment of their mixtape series and it's unsurprisingly good. Full of big tunes from guys like Serial Killaz themselves, Vital Elements and Upgrade, it's the latter of these guys that takes the cake with 'Steel Drum'. You've probably heard this one doing the rounds and it's actually already been released, but oh boy what a tune this is: a screaming, siren-lake mash of grating metallic synths and punching drums all come together to make an unstoppably good piece of music. Don't sleep on the rest of these tunes though, and a special mention goes to DJ Hybrid's 'Beatbox' - naught jungle vibes.

Review: 36 Hertz Recordings are back on track and back on beat this week, with a fiery compilation that isn't the longest out there but surely one of the hardest. Every single cut on this album is an explosion of vibrant jungle breaks and moody subterranean sonics, courtesy of some big names like DJ Hybrid, NC-17 and recent Metalheadz feature Jem One. The latter's track is especially good, a featherweight intro leading on into an aggressive, rambunctious slice of feverous energy, Jem One's recent foray onto the OG imprint of jungle music apparent in every bar. Perfectly timed to fit in with the new wave of junglist pressure coming out across the UK, 36 Hertz have hit the nail on the head with this one.

Review: DJ Hybrid sparks up once again. This time flexing on Serial Killaz imprint, it's another generous package that stretches across the board and back. "Puff Puff Pass" pays homage with the sticky icky with a drawn out fog horn bassline, "Ready To Rumble" adds a little vocal sensuality to the glacial bass while "I Challenge You" is more of a tech edged affair with another scorching electric bassline. Dig deeper for the frenzied rifle breaks and creative humanised textures of "Beatbox" (with My Selecta) and the savage breaks and Dread bass warbles of "Hear The Drummer". If that's not enough there's an uncut stinker VIP of "Moving On" thrown in for good measure. No one is doing it like DJ Hybrid.

Review: Dutty business: Toronto's DBA crew lay down their second supersized V/A LP of the year and it's an absolute gully jamboree. Ranging from the wobbled-out slaps of Euphonique's "Sound Dead" to twisted drones of Tryptamine's "Gang" via the wily 96 skanks and bubblesome bass of ScattyOne's "Wicked Babylon", Tomoyoshi's funk flipping triplets on "Time & Space" and the awesome halftime sludge of DJ Hybrid's clever Drop Out remix of "Raised In The Jungle" there's genuinely not one even slightly under par track here. Dutty Bass Audio are absolutely smashing the game right here.

Review: Don't be misled by the title: this is no thrown-together 'greatest hits' package but rather a 40-track label showcase from DJ Hybrid's Audio Addict label, coming complete (if you opt to buy the whole album) with a fast and furious, 52-minute mixed version by Canada's RMS, aka Paul Currie. Tracks come a mixture of relatively new names (Martyn Nytram, Saffire Dubz, Confusious) and more established players (LJ High, Scartip and of course Hybrid himself), while stylistically the album touches on various different D&B sub-genres, but with the emphasis always firmly on cuts that are built to tear up the rave.

Review: Boom boom shake shake the room.... DJ Hybrid adds another label to his portfolio in the shape of Boom 93, a new home for all things early 90s influenced where the focus is squared heavily on strictly the rawest of original jungle craftmanship. Taking launch duties himself DJ Hybrid sets the benchmark with two seismic slabs of brucked up business. "Riddim Runner" is a powerful jam with walloping Dread undertones and drums so stirring they'll leave you feeling seasick. "Don't Watch" follows a similar suit but with added layers of synths soothing your ruffled soul with an occasional oriental motif and a few cheeky hadoukens en route. They DO make them like they used to!

As always the vibes are high with each track rolling like a 10-strong trip to Holland. Highlights include the dancehall damage of Euphonique & Kelvin 373's sticky icky "Hot Spliff", Veak's rusty break gut-puncher "Nuff Respect" and the classic rave stabs and thundering drum work on DJ Hybrid's "Stand Up".

Do-no-wrong Kumarachi reminds us why he's boss with a stuttering jungle roll and demonically pitched vocal samples, Conrad Subs calls on everyone's favourite macabre aged WWE wrestler by way of twist think break devilry while Hybrid fine-tunes his 20/20 vision with a stinking halftime romp. Elsewhere Riffz lashes out on the razz snares, the mysterious Scartip skins us alive with his rim shots and Habitat strips things back with some beautiful time-stretched drum work. Be good now.

Review: After a very impressive 2017, the Audio Addict collective are back with another heavyweight release package to kick off 2018 with a bang. After a fantastically well received release of DJ Hybrid and Haribo's heavyweight collaboration 'Raised In The Jungle', the Audio Addict imprint have put together a phenomenal selection of six official remixes. Our favourites have to be smooth subs of Swerve's rollers rework, the techy arrangement and vocal manipulation of My Selectas redesign and Drop Out's classic hip hop remix, complete with scratches and vocal breakdowns. This is a great start to the year for Hybrid's ever impressive imprint.

Review: Batten down your hatches, lock down your aerials, keep your pets inside: Deep In The Jungle are about to slap 2018 silly with another massive album. And it kicks off here with some of the label's finest. Bossman DJ Hybrid and currently unstoppable RMS take the lead with "Now That Your Gone" which hits and slices with a Charge-style hoover riff, Welsh artist Substrate follows with his DITJ debut, the amen-shattering, Remarc-style slammer "Crayfish" while the bulletproof banger wizard Kumararchi gets all grizzly and ruffneck on "Buss A Ting". Finally Opius & Dapz leave us hanging for more with a powerful brock-out that nods slyly at the mid 90s Urban Takeover sound with added splashes of gospel. Bring on the album!

Review: DJ Hybrid looks back over another successful and hugely prolific year with this massive 31 track compendium of Audio Addict slammers, bangers and a few cheeky exclusives. A great opportunity to get up to speed on the 170BPM clarity DJ Hybrid operates the label at, every single track guarantees heat. Notable shouts go out to Kumurachi's various inclusions (especially Octo-Pi's brand new remix of "Phatty"), RMS & Dcision's low-riding bumper "One Ting", Epicentre's slinky soul-touched roller "infamous", Agro's skank-slapped "Bust Dis Ting" and Swerve's maximum-boosting twist of Hybrid's "What Else". But that really is the tip of the double-A iceberg. It's been an exceptional year for the label, and this is proof.

DJ Hybrid unleashes a rumbling understated groaner, Jaxx gets all jittery and data-glitchy, Cabin Fever get all jazzy and soulful over a massive subby wobble, Feline adds an Original Sin style widescreen brashness to the mix while K Jah takes us back to Bristol for science class detention. Five absolute jammers right here, Natty Dub don't muck around mate.
