Review: Sick plate pirate Hybrid is down big style with the Serial Killaz crew and with the kind of boss tunes he creates, the SK's label is his natural home. This latest missive from the frontline features two tracks that pack serious dancefloor punch indeed. "Get Hype" is fusion of dubby grooves, amen breaks and mega chopped vocals. "Rewind Selection" riffs off vintage 2-step, with added Robin S-style bass organ, ravey sunrise-on-ecstasy synth pads and sped up RnB vocal snips. Proper dope beats.

Review: Since resurrecting System Shock, Callide has been on a one-man mission to raise the profile of his own favoured brand of soul-shaking deadliness. On this little beauty of a remix EP though, he's no longer a man on a lone mission, as plenty of the scene's hardest hitters have been placed on point to lend a hand. Remixes like DJ Hybrid's old school take on "Inferno" and Dominator's epic rolling intro for "A Way To Get The Answer" have given a new lease of life to these dancefloor-destroying slices of pure energy, as well as show off the diversity and creativity that still lives within the heart of our darkest, most club-focused sub-genres. Review: Everybody loves a good VA, it's just wicked getting a whole big album full of tracks from different artists - the definition of a kid in a candy shop. This one from Uncommon has a cool combination of bigger and smaller acts, from the mighty Kasra to lesser known quantities like Resist. Kasra's 'Needles' is a standout, a fiercely minimal slapper that gargles and gurgles its way straight into your brain, and for anyone that is into the Critical sound: this is the tune for you. Kanine, another rising star, hits hard on 'Searching', a tune that reminds us of the recent Klippee tracks over on Lifestyle Music. All in all, this is a very solid little VA - yes yes!

Review: 36 Hertz Recordings are back on track and back on beat this week, with a fiery compilation that isn't the longest out there but surely one of the hardest. Every single cut on this album is an explosion of vibrant jungle breaks and moody subterranean sonics, courtesy of some big names like DJ Hybrid, NC-17 and recent Metalheadz feature Jem One. The latter's track is especially good, a featherweight intro leading on into an aggressive, rambunctious slice of feverous energy, Jem One's recent foray onto the OG imprint of jungle music apparent in every bar. Perfectly timed to fit in with the new wave of junglist pressure coming out across the UK, 36 Hertz have hit the nail on the head with this one.

Review: Crisp, futuristic sounds come courtesy of UK's own J Hybrid, a producer who's seemingly more prolific every single month that passes. This time he turns his paranoid junglist sounds to 36 Hertz, and first track "Nothing Else" is a blending high-powered dancefloor filler powered by the manifestly dark thoughts that fill his best productions. "Bring It On" changes the mood completely, with sizzling horns sampled over big punches of bass and jungle breaks and as "Smash and Grab" moves into cinematic territory with widescreen atmospherics we almost forgot where we were...until the drop. "Reach" rounds this stonker of an EP up with the soundtrack to a true old school rave. Bring the energy.

Featuring tracks from the likes of Callide, Cambridge, SR & Digbee and Vapour himself, it's a compilation full of those D&B classics-inspired tunes the label is famed for. The series so far has seen an impressive level of variety in the types of tunes they've uncovered, and this album really showcases the variety of sounds 36 Hertz encourages. The type of compilation that restores faith in drum and bass.

Review: A truly delightful EP here from36 Hertz, "The Aztec Bass EP" celebrates a wealth of talent from the label, including such names as Acuna, DJ Hybrid, SR & Digbee and Ricky Force. Kicking things off with "Don't Need Your Love Baby" by Acuna and the spaced out intro switches into a synth driven, vocal hook and ensuing drop which is full of rattling metallic beats. DJ Hybrid's "I Get Mash Up" carries on with its bellowing bass and uplifting, polished vocal sections, before we move on to SR & Digbee's "Morning Strummer". Here things get a bit more rough and dirty on a Wilkinson-style tip before last but not least Ricky Force brings things to a close with the driving bass of "Setbacks".

Review: Dutty business: Toronto's DBA crew lay down their second supersized V/A LP of the year and it's an absolute gully jamboree. Ranging from the wobbled-out slaps of Euphonique's "Sound Dead" to twisted drones of Tryptamine's "Gang" via the wily 96 skanks and bubblesome bass of ScattyOne's "Wicked Babylon", Tomoyoshi's funk flipping triplets on "Time & Space" and the awesome halftime sludge of DJ Hybrid's clever Drop Out remix of "Raised In The Jungle" there's genuinely not one even slightly under par track here. Dutty Bass Audio are absolutely smashing the game right here.

Review: It would seem that the team at Ruffneck Ting have pulled out all the stocks here as they put together their 'The Xtraordinary League Of Junglists 2 (Level 1)' compilation, collecting up fifteen original dynamite sticks as they do so. The line-up contains a collection of high profile drums specialists, including DJ Hybrid, Erbman, Jinx, Bass Antics, Genetix and a host more. For us the highlights of this quite frankly super stacked project include Lion UK's dubwise roller in 'Hova Nova', alongside Flat T's scatty driver 'The Dragon' and Verdikt's super subby outing on 'Enemies'.

Review: Chasing the chem trails left by his label mate and peer RMS last month, the mighty DJ Hybrid makes his Liondub debut with this precision six tracker. As always with the Coventry killer, there's no filler in sight and a full range of flavours on offer; "Stay High" eases us in with soulful west coast finesse before "Prime Time" gets busy with sinewy alien funk and early 2000s Dope Dragon hookiness, "Breathe" brings the sunny side dubwise feels before hurling us into a deep jungle swamp, "No Way" is all about the Critical style stripped back minimal rollage before "Shockin Out" hits us upside the chops with some absolutely foul jungle wobbles before "Special Request VIP" brings us home on a rocket made of sirens and classic reverse basses. No stone left unturned; this is DJ Hybrid at his broadest and baddest.

Review: Once again, we see the awesome sounds of Natty Dub Recordings return, this time delivering a pulverising display of original D&B flavour, welcoming the lethal sounds of Serial Killaz inside for a truly tasty remix. The original sounds of DJ Hybrid are on display, as we hear his heavyweight roller 'Back In The Day' receive that classic Serial Killaz overhaul, reworking the track into an even more gritty roller, with a strong focus on gnarly synthesiser growls, eerie backing melodies and of course a combination of hard hitting drum thuds. It's a killer rework that is certain to cause a large amount of damage in the dances.

Review: Calling all ragamuffins and roustabouts; DJ Hybrid's 2016 Natty Dub banger gets the treatment from two bonafide roller dons. T>I steps up first with a serious murk of approval as the creepy intro, spoken sample and stripped back nature of the original are maintained but with added clunky drums on the fills and a gnarlier twist to the bass fills. Damageman also maintains the arpeggiated intro but then drops into a classic loose-limbed breakbeat before eventually building into a big juicy synth riff a la BBK circa 2005. Spot on.

Review: Hailing from Coventry, DJ Hybrid has firmly established himself over the last couple of years as someone at the forefront of D&B's re-discovered love for jungle-influences and bouncy but hard-hitting basslines. Drawing upon those influences, he's back on Natty Dub Recordings for a full-throated six-tracker that kicks off with title track 'Push The Dub', a gently weighted sine-based wobbler that pushes on every corner of the range. 'Back in the Day' and '808 Roller' have clear Kings of the Rollers vibes, with juddering bass pulses and that recognizable sense of hardware-based rawness. This release has overtones of Manchester and undertones of the South - proper UK underground stuff.

Review: DJ Hybrid, Jaxx, Cabin Fever, Feline and K Jah... Now that's a modern junglist rollcall you can set your watch by. Every player involved is packing serious heat here too... DJ Hybrid unleashes a rumbling understated groaner, Jaxx gets all jittery and data-glitchy, Cabin Fever get all jazzy and soulful over a massive subby wobble, Feline adds an Original Sin style widescreen brashness to the mix while K Jah takes us back to Bristol for science class detention. Five absolute jammers right here, Natty Dub don't muck around mate.

Review: Half man, half machine (hence the name), Hybrid has been unstoppable this year. Tune after tune after tune for days and they've all been precision delivered with the dancefloor and heads in mind. Here we find him on mean debut label EP flex for Natty Congo and nothing is left to chance as all vibes are licked thoroughly; "Occupational Hazard" kicks with real classical Moving Fusion style late 90s power and some brilliantly tripped out cascading moans, "Lunar" kicks with a Rockwellian ghettotech pace while "Bad Man Culture" rolls with a mild jumpy wobble reminiscent of foundation Bristol. "Turn It Around" brings home the funk bacon with a vibe that's not dissimilar to Break. Seriously.

Review: More VA manoeuvres from the perennial Natty camp. The label has recruited new names and they're all packing ammo. Label bosses Cabin Fever reboot with old sparring partner Saxxon for an electrified brock-out "Clubhopper" before four acts make their label debut: DJ Hybrid applies a skillishly simplistic and highly timeless bassline stepper, Version cooks up with rattling wasps-in-tin bassline and warped retro sci-fi tones, Sureshock looks to the stars through a pair of Klute's glasses and a soaring big system vocal, while Kenji twists up with a serious space jam.

Review: The legendary DJ Hybrid is back in business with another top quality collection, unloading four garage-inspired bumpers on this brand new EP. The title track 'Flex Ya Chest' takes centre stage from the off, exploring old school garage vocal overlays and hard hitting sublines to kick the EP off in serious style. Next, a 140 VIP mix of 'Big Four Five', utilising a hard hitting vocal line atop a bed of quivering LFO lines and choppy drum textures, before the super smooth sub notation of 'All For You' gives us another thunderous display in close pursuit. Finally, 'Area Code' ups the pace significantly with a dancefloor-ready rumbler, focussing on fidgeting synth lines and smooth pads to give us a slightly alternative closer.
