Review: Londoners Get Me! are back with their fifth release after a successful two years of far-reaching, UK-inspired dance floor cuts. This time it's a collaborative effort and Dam Mantle kick things of with "Brothers Fowl", an irresistibly charming future garage track with plenty of those classic chopped up vocals and almost Burial-like, cascading drums; on "Dublin" Mantle injects a straighter beat structure and an impressive collection of gloomy, hypnotising pads. Over on the B, Lovers' Rights give us "Make Your Own Milk", a stunning deep house hybrid with a bumping bass line, making it an all-out bomb which would make the Sunklo boys so very proud! "Cnidarian" is experimental to say the least - a near 150 beats per minute and a fierce array of sci-fi effects and melodies to boot.
Review: Dam Mantle and Becoming Real share the honours on this latest drop on Get Me. Scottish duo Dam Mantle open proceedings with the skittish rhythms of "Her Woes", with comes across as Pearson Sound remixing Zomby with breakneck arpeggios tackling cavernous bass tones and rhythmic claps. Up next, the hotly tipped producer Becoming Real drops "Paramnesia", with a raved-up synth, twinkling 8-bit melodies and ethereal vocal moans all vying for your attention simultaneously.
Review: This is young Glaswegian duo Dam Mantle's third EP, which will be hailed by a deluge of online chatter. Hyperbole aside, it's clear to see this pair are a talented couple of herberts with a knack for making an addictive tune. There's no shortage of surprises across this EP, as flirts between synthesized machinations and organic sources vie for your attention while integrating seamlessly. It's hard to avoid a comparison to Mount Kimbie, however where Kimbie are fluttery and fragile, Dam Mantle have a solidity to their sound which should see them win over hearts and minds on an almost instantaneous level. Recommended.
