Review: The road don't stop in Bristol. Flex 180 to the other UK coastal outlier for more inspo as cats in Anglia show us how it's done on the east side. There's some tasty names on board, too, as Damageman takes the lead with the big bruising 'Grey' before Conrad Subs freezes us in our track with an iced out grime-flavoured 'Version'. Elsewhere Flat T' brings dusty funk samples on the earth-flattening 'Freddie Got Fingered', JOE goes for that old school D*Minds vibe while Phaze One has us all in a soaking wet mess on 'Champion Tuneup' as a jump up wobbler turns into a lighter raising anthem. They were probably expecting you to have settled down into a more conventional life than this but it's 2023 and nothing is conventional any more and what could be more fun than sharing your life with the likes of Conrad Subs, Lundy, J.O.E and Pruf? Expect sublime relationship complications throughout; 'Ashes To Ashes' whispers sweet nothings in your ear before slicing it off, 'Value Of Drugs' gets you high on life but refuses to catch you when you fall back down, 'Dimension X' will strip you of your belongings but tell you you're gorgeous. And that's only half of this wonderfully modern romance. Live, laugh and love this EP.

Review: Super prolific bass merchant Damageman jumps aboard Conrad Subs' Koba Audio with two white knuckle tear-ups. Both rooted with a certain old school 90s/early 2000s stripped-back but beefed-up dnb charm, 'Reality Control' hits like a sledgehammer rattling away with a Formation Records-style vibe and heavy sci-fi undertones while 'Remarkable Weaponry' bumps and swaggers like a classic Ram joint. Think Moving Fusion but with the grunt and shunt of a Shimon tune. Damageman is onto something here.

Review: Fire in the hole! Damageman lives up to his name and tears up the dance once again, this time on brand new label Twist Recordings, run by Classifyed. 'Packing Flames' brings the heat with a guttural, sneering bassline revving up and down a Hells Angel doing wheelies in your nan's cul-de-sac. 'Bypass' adds a little extra slinky funk with its elasticated bass and heavy, treacle-thick groove. The last time a 'Bypass' was this serious was back in the early 90s when Swampy chained himself to a tree (ask your mum) Great launch release for an exciting new label. Essential radar business.

Review: The super prolific Damageman returns to Grid with a follow-up to last year's 'Chameleon' EP and this time it's a matter of 'Life Or Death'. Five tracks heavy, it's one of his biggest EPs to date and hits with some brilliantly crisp and heavy mixdowns. Picks of the pack include the simple-but-ridiculously-effective riff magic of 'Combination' (excellent sample use, too) the warm drums and interplay between the bulbous subs and midrange bassline hooks on 'Medical Emergency' and the utterly twisted rasps and belches of 'Death In The Ends'. Review: Stillz returns to Gradient with one of his biggest EPs so far. Paying tribute to all the sesh fallen soldiers, the title track pays homage to all those crews who can't find a lighter when they get home for the afters as Stillz and Nick The Lot go full ploughman with the kicks and glitches. Five more fire-ups follow, each one as hearty and heavy. Highlights include the Gino-level slams and slaps of 'Autopilot', the tense eeriness and raw energy of the drop on 'Defect' and the playful horn action of 'Jazz Music'. Review: There's nothing better than a wicked collaborative EP, as a bunch of artists bang their heads together and get the most of out each other. That's what's happened here, as Agro, Lowlife, Too Greezey and others are on point for a stripped back, barebones EP. 'Tell Me' rests on a solid percussive foundation, whilst an ambient soundscape is penetrated through by massive basses that feel like zeppelins in the foggy night sky. 'Fight Back' is similar and is moves with a fluency which is simply infectious, whilst things get breaksy on 'The Magic' and tough on 'Funk Doc'. Cool work.

Review: Damageman is on Grid Recordings with a fiery four-tracker designed very much for the dancefloor. It's one of those singles that you can tell was made with a good time in mind, music that's goal is to bring happiness to a room full of people. 'Survived' is the first and it's also the fattest, with a giant, stabby bassline that launches out of the blocks with serious energy. 'Chameleon' is glitchier and techier, its grating synths are full of momentum and the whole track just feels like it's on steroids; we can see why this is the title track. One of the bassface crew.

Review: One of the regular labels we feature are Sub Heavy Audio, a fantastic label that puts out a diverse sound ranging from techy rollers to jump-up steppers and even liquidy numbers. This week they've arrived with an EP from Damageman, who, across three tracks, spans various tones and styles, all of them rooted in a sense of dancefloor aggressiveness and all of them top-notch. 'What Doing' is a highlight, its rolling percussive line is pacey, loping and satisfying, whilst a smooth bass and sweeping low frequencies sit just above and inject all the force. 'War' is also a wicked track, with a lovely, stripped back drum line that's full of moody sonics. Top stuff.

Review: Damageman's Sub Heavy hits the big twenty with this supersized V/A EP from some of the label's nearest, dearest and ruffest of friends. The main man takes the lead with 'Tell You Something', a gently dubby stepper laced with sultry vox and wormy subs. He's backed all the way by the likes of Conrad Subs with the fittingly titled face-ripper 'Hefty One', J.O.E gets his skank on with the bulldozer funk-up 'Likkle Yout Man', DJ Direkt strips things right back to the bare grizzly bones on 'Untitled' while Trauma DBC closes down the EP with a full-on deadly 'Lazer' fight. Review: With this single, Damageman has created something with a tasty amount of bite to it and which will give you the pick me up you need after the bloating Christmas period. 'Shadow Soul' is the better of the two, an ominous synthy introduction builds up tension deliciously before its all released on the drop, a furious amalgamation of distorted and disparate hits and cuts, Original Sin style. 'One Of Us' is more mellow not that much more, still containing a distinctly murky set of back end shudders and still possessing a formidable sense of momentum and travel.

Review: Big bad and very very heavy! Ten Ton hit the big tonne with this overweight menu of murkery. Featuring some of the label's oldest sparring partners and freshest fighters, across the album we're navigated through some of the darkest, dirtiest and dankest corners of Project Lando's imprint. Stars of the show include Project Lando himself, who delivers a whole string of sick remixes and originals (including an immense hair-raising twist on MQ's 'Roll Out' and an insane VIP of 'Suck Out'), Shodan, who presents a whole brace of releases (including the super-charged euphoria of 'Soulfire') and the rising styles of Skuff who tags up with Iffy for the lush vocal track 'Illusions' and the trembling dark liquid bumper 'New Tones'. And that's just the tip of this centennial iceberg. 100 thumbs up.

Review: Damageman lands on Murky Digital with a dancefloof focused journey through D&B's rougher side. Murky Digital don't have a reputation for being a label that'll hold your hand and this is clearly evident throughout Revenge, none more so than on the title track. With a barebones, stripped back approach that's reminiscent of Digital or Spirit, Damageman combines old-school sampling with a distinct rawness to emphasise the track's low-frequency weight. This style is replicated across the other tunes to varying degrees but there's one constant: unadulterated sounds with the aim of serious dancefloor pressure. If that's your thing, then this EP is certainly for you.

Review: Fresh from flipping us with 'The Switch' earlier this year on Zombie, Damageman and MC J.O.K collide once again. This time on Redrum and it's badman business as usual; J.O.K's unique flow and crystal wit sparks the joint while Damageman's grizzly riff keeps it smoking. 'Zangief', meanwhile, plays all coy and sweet on the intro but the minute J.O.K hints at a future teeth-smashing you just know the filth isn't far-away. Somebody shoot these messengers some gunfingers!

Review: Switch-flipping savageness from the Mr Damagement Management on Zombie once again. As always, it's straight to the point gutter funk here where the bassline does all the chatting and the beats do all the fact checking. "The Switch" sees Essex mic controller J.O.K take the lead with some wry word play over an aggy staccato Bristol style riff while "Slob" raises the cheeky vibe with a wonderfully silly bassline and a sample that will have you crying for gyms to open again ASAP. Crucial business from Zombie once again; being undead has never been so lively.

Review: For this three track arrangement we are joined by the highly respected Drop Heavy Audio team, who have employed the services of Damageman for three tracks of 4x4 flavour, kicking off with the old school niche vibes of 'Third Bass', a tidy warbling roller. Next, the drum pressure is upped as a combination of scattered breakbeats and punchy claps providing the rhythmic structure for the subtle bass tones of 'Get Over It' to run riot. Finally, the project takes a techy turn as 'Come On' aligns metallic bass flicks with choppy percussion for a groovy finale.

Review: Murky Digital are a label who do what their name might suggest in that they release digital murkiness on a regular basis. Black Lagoon is a various artists release that brings together Jaxx, Euphonique, Vital, Damageman and Tarz, all of whom have contributed dastardly naughty tracks. Vital's 'Bank Robbers' is up there with the best of them and it's all about that bassline, a foghorn of groaning, fiery proportions which rattles its way through the arrangement. Damageman also impresses with 'Low Signal', a sub-heavy roller which will please the more minimalistic heads amongst you. Banging stuff.

Review: Damageman has been on a bit of a roll recently and he's back on Audio Addict for a stripped back, roughshod single which showcases an interesting blend of the minimal sound with the jump-up side of the scene. This is a style that's been taking off recently and we're very much into it, it's a bit less full-on that jump-up and not as screechy, yet still has the wicked attitude and urban-edged toughness of jump-up. 'Ass Up' is an excellent example, with an Ice Cube sample and multiple criss-crossing strands of reverberating bass, an amalgamation of low-frequency textures which just roll out the whole way through. Sick stuff here.

Review: Five years, 50 releases, Ten Ton Beats imprint have contributed to underground D&B with a steady, gradual confidence. Not flooding the game but never falling off the radar, the label has been a consistent source of uncompromised heaviness. Here we celebrate this with a raffish cross-section of dancefloor styles that really do live up to the label's weighty title: the metallic bass rasps of "Missing In Action", the snare perfection and silky sub warps of "Deadly Force", the tongue-in-cheek Voltage-style mischief of "Funk Inspectors", the Twisted Individual barks of "Chapter". Technically some of these bangers weigh more like 12 or 13 tons. But that's our little secret.

Review: The player previously known as DJ Damage comes correct with two scorching slabs of nasty: "Fear" slaps with precision two-steps and tickles with its throaty bass gurgles. Infectiously hook and devilishly simple, you can tell he's been DJing for years as this is tailor made for selector creativity. "Prepare To Die" takes us on a deeper, darker sojourn as cymbal splashed drums are coated by a classic one-note bass riff that hammers its message home succinctly.
