Review: Given the quality of the first EP on Seb Jenkins and Liam Nolan's Big In Japan label - a hard-to-pigeonhole collection of tracks from Colombian duo Cero39 - hopes are naturally high for this second outing. This one comes from another hithero unknown name, Dani Boom. He begins with "Champeta La Voladora", a gloriously sunny, humid and colourful fusion of cumbia rhythms, deep house electronics and tropical guitars. In typical Big in Japan fashion, the track that follows, "Los Sabanales Refix", impressively flips the script, combining elements from a vintage, accordion-laden South American shuffler with hypnotic new beats and a seriously squelchy synth-bassline.
