Darkzy - "It's You" (Turno remix) - (4:11) 174 BPM
Review: To celebrate an incredible run of releases and festival stage takeovers, CruCast have collated some of their most popular releases over the last few years into one handy compilation, taking the name 'Cru100'. Now over the past few years we have seen CruCast lay down a pretty dominant release schedule, which shows in this tracklisting as we reminisce with classics from the likes of Skepsis, Darkzy, Distinkt and Tsuki, with more recent bangers such as Bru-C and Simula's 'You & I' making it onto the listing also. If you are looking for certified dancefloor ammo, look no further!
Review: One thing we have noticed about the CruCast release model, is that it is perfectly balanced between their more established faces and a constant wave of exciting newcomers. This release pays homage to the first of those options as CruCast roll out the red carpet for an all-star affair as the likes of Skepsis, Darkzy, Bru-C, TS7, Tsuki and more come together for a scorching selection of brazen bassy badness. There are some tasty pieces involved, but the ones that leap out the most have to include Skue-K's colourful rework of Bru-C & D Double's 'Heater', along with a vibrant VIP mix of 'Jungle' from Nu Aspect.
Review: Following on from the massive release of Darkzy & Example's long awaited bass collaboration, we see the CruCast team do what they do best as they bring together three very powerful remix projects from some of the most exciting names in their respective fields. We kick everything off with Kanine's potent jump up refix, reworking the vocal amidst skippy junglist drums and a super catchy lead synth. Bassline legend Wittyboy steps up to the plate next with his gnarly rethink, focussing on aggy bass designs, which is chased up in style by Mind Of A Dragon's typically inspiring UKG twissup. Excellent work as per!
Review: It seems to have been a hot minute since we last heard anything from Darkzy, who as ever has been smashing an incredible run of live performances in the meantime. He returns here to CruCast as they unveil an official remix selection EP for 'Spell It Out' alongside Lo. Firstly, let us dive into the big room synthesizer smacks of Lumm's riddim tearout rethink, before Subsonic provides us with a super punchy half-time overhaul. Next, Cooky gives the original a bassline makeover, followed by Yozhi's nostalgic garage chop and Bookey's brain scattering d&b recreation. Tasty!
Review: The CruCast wave continues here as they unveil an absolutely scorching collection of VIP mixes, showcasing their diverse roster and their creativity at the same time. From start to finish this project packs when hell of a punch, reworking some of the most popular CruCast drops into one explosive package, featuring the likes of Cajama, SpaceGat, MPH, Champion, Wittyboy, Dread MC and more. For us, the outstanding recordings on this one have to include the VIP mix of Francois and Louis Benton's 'Foolin', along with the explosive redesign of 'What's Going On' from Pelikann.
Review: Darksky is back on rising UK imprint Crucast with his third helping of freaky bass mutants. There's four mixes of "Whats Going On" inside: the opening Drum & Bass remix is, as you'd expect, a nutty blend of violent, nu-school jungle breaks backed by Bru C's grime slewings; Thorpey's version dissolves the groove down to a frenetic bundle of sped-up garage beats; Pelikann comes through correct with a rampant garage version of his own, this one peppered with some hardcore rave stabs; Pavv closes the EP off in fine style thanks to one final twist of bass for the dancehall. Party-loaded killers for the masses!
