Sasse's Moodmusic imprint has always been good at peppering its release schedule with genuine surprises - records that thrill and excite but refuse to conform to easy genre stereotypes. This new cut from regular collaborators Darran Nugent and Pavel Lenchenko is a great example. Centring around a hooky, off-kilter, cut-up pop vocal, it sits somewhere between techno-funk, deep house and the organ-heavy sound of classic NJ garage - but doesn't particularly sound like any of those. It's great fun, though, and there's enough class to impress even the most sour-faced deep house purists. Remix-wise, check Phonogenic's low slung, midtempo Disco Dub - it's pretty darn heavy.
