Review: Horizons Music come up with another top release this month and this one comes from the man like Data. A four-track EP traversing the deeper and darker ends of the D&B spectrum, this is one all the heads should add to their music collection. Kicking off with "Sinkhole" this one is all about the rough, raw synthlines, rumbling sub bass and razor sharp beats, while "The Chronicle" goes in deep with subterranean bass, cavernous subs, cinematic SFX and plenty of murkiness. "Blindside" continues the badness with dark flavours rolling around a menacing soundscape, and then "Within The Circuit" completes the EP with hollow, clapping beats and grinding b-lines in abundance.

Review: Nice minimalistic track. It's quite progressive and builds up with quirky basslines. A bit on the darker side but that's the way we like it. Very nice. Dissent travels a similar path but has a groove you can't argue with. From the wall of sound intro to the again quite minimal main body. This will have the dancefloor effortlessly skanking and feeling very cool about it.

Review: A very tidy collection of tracks here from Neil Monteiro's ever-reliable Horizons imprint. From the lush atmospheric sounds of Sunchase, who opens the 12-track compilation, through the ponderous calm of Clarity's "Head Rush" to the bass-driven cuts from June Miller & Reflekt and Nickbee & Malk, this "Internal Affairs 2" provides a great selection from across the deeper side of the D&B spectrum. Household names like Data and June Miller sit alongside new faces and upcoming talent. Other highlights include Pessimist - "Syncopation", a raw, dark little roller, and Blocks' melancholic offering "Undercurrents".

Review: In manner of "New Blood, "Critical Sound" and so on, Horizons comes up with a various artists compilation showcasing the fresh new up-and-coming talent on their label. Whilst some names such as June Miller, Cause 4 Concern, Data and Spinline, others may not. Highlights from across the selection include Cause 4 Concerns murky, moody roller "Under Forever", Amoss' "We All Grow" with its politicized lyrics and warping dubbed out b-line and fidgety Rockwell-esque edits and Data's opening cut "Formless", with its clicking beats and growling b-line. A nice taster of what we can expect from Horizons in the future.

Review: A tidy three track EP from the Metalheadz camp, The Genesis EP kicks off with Horizon's regular Data going in on the deep, minimal vibes with ticking beats, impassioned breathy vocal and tense, metallic chimes. Bournemouth duo Ulterior Motive team up with old friend and Critical hot shot FD for "All That We Are", combining their considerable skills for this stripped back, minimal/tech roller, with crisp breaks and a foreboding undertone. Finishing up with "Feeder" - incidentally Kiat's debut on Metalheadz - it's over and out on an experimental tip, with a bleepy melody bubbling over curious SFX and deep, murmuring b-line below. One for the headz.
