Review: Somewhat remarkably, Let Me Tell Ya is Dave Allison's first single for some two years. Appearing on the Kinjo Music label he founded in 2006, it delivers a range of tracks built around warm live instrumentation, rolling grooves, and stoned hip-hop attitude. While the title track is a Rhodes-laden, mid-tempo disco-meets-jazz-funk gem (accompanied, it should be noted, by a tasty deep house revision by Junktion), much of the EP sticks to more head-nodding tempos. He seems comfortable at this speed though, as the Fat City/Grand Central style instrumental hip-hop of "Bridge", sumptuous "Milk Chocolate", and deliciously jazzy workout "Twilight Groove" neatly prove.
