Review: Deep house from the more abstract/experimental side is the order of the day on this latest three-tracker from Berlin veteran Dave DK, who's also a regular on Kompakt. 'Jelly Legs' rides heavy, muted 4/4s and shuffly top-end percussion with luxuriant pads and strings to create a potential future sunrise classic, while the muffled, moody 'El Point (High Tide)' features a spoken male vocal in French and speaks to DK's background in techno. And then finally we come to 'Chicama' itself, a lazy, atmospheric deep house groove topped with extensive snatches of sampled Turkish or Arabic speech.

Review: The sixth instalment of this series brings together established names with upcoming producers in the deep house / techno scene. Representing the established artists is Dave DK, who has been releasing music for almost two decades: unsurprisingly, his contribution, "Immer Gut" is a wonderfully delicate affair, revolving around introspective piano lines, soft-focused filters and fragile percussion. He's joined by Luke Hess, a regular on Omar S' label and whose pumping "Platte" explores the moody end of dub techno, thanks to its dramatic chord sweeps. However, the compilation is also successful in highlighting the fact that there is a lot of new talent out there, with Anton Djaneiro's wonderfully evocative "Heimweh" and Sevvero's techy "Artemis" both standing out.

Review: Hart & Tief is a spin-off of DJ Koze's Pampa label. Translated as 'hard and deep', the imprint's aesthetic is audible on its third release, which sees Stimming opt for a more underground sound than usual. On "Frankfurt Main", the Diynamic producer drops cold techno chord stabs and the kind of rumbling, cavernous rhythm that you'd normally associate with producers like Mike Dehnert (interestingly, also a previous contributor to the label). On the flip side, veteran German producer Dave DK ventures even farther down the wormhole. Stripped of melodies, "Saida 222" centres on a rumbling, loosely arranged workout that keeps on grooving.

Review: As sure as night follows day, every year Kompakt releases an installment of the Total series. Now at its sixteenth volume, the compilation still manages to bring together the best bits from the Cologne label's catalogue. From the dreamy textures and spiky off rhythms of Kaytlin Aurelia Smith's take on The Field's "Reflecting Lights" to the woozy vocals and pitter pattering break beats on Weval's "I Donat Need It" to the stripped back but evocative house of Patrice Baumel's take on Blond:ish's "Endless Games" and the throbbing techno reshape of Coma's "Lora", the full range of the Kompakt emotional spectrum is audible here.

Review: On this fine release, Kompakt has recruited a crack team of high profile remixers to rework tracks from Dave DK's 2015 album, Val Maira. First to step up to the plate is German veteran Isolee, who delivers a woozy, hypnotic version of "We Mix At Six" full of his trademark percussion, minor key melodies and typically teutonic attitude - plus, of course, some rather odd but endearing, dubbed-out synthesizer refrains. Ulrich Schauss reaches for the grandiose, wall-of-sound chords and glistening guitars on his picturesque, deep tech-house interpretation of "Kronsee", before Portable pays tribute to long Ibizan sunsets on his beautifully poignant - if likeably tipsy - deep house-goes-synth wave remix of "Nueva Cancion".

Review: Well it's that time of the year again. Wolfgang Voight compiles the best in ambient for his beloved label and it's more of the same high calibre ambient excursions you'd expect, like in previous editions. Starting off in truly breathtaking fashion with Stephan Matieu's "April Im Oktober", we're then treated to some new material by British icons The Orb, who present us with "Alpine Dawn" further testament to their otherworldly sense for sound. Label mainstay Mikkel Metal appears also with the sombre yet mesmerising cathedral drone of "Titan", as does Leandro Fresco, twice in fact. With both his sublime remix of Dave DK's "Veira" and his own "Configuracion de Atequa" featuring gorgeously uplifting tones reminiscent of old Gas material. Speaking of which, Voight himself appears with his mindblowing "Ruckverzauberung" from 2012 getting a brilliant modern revision by Thore Pfeiffer. Yet again, it goes without saying; this is essential listening.

Review: Kompakt's annual label sampler returns for a 15th year, gathering together another 24 highlights from the long running Cologne imprint's ever growing back catalogue. As usual, there are numerous styles represented - from the spiraling dancefloor synth-pop of Kolsch and punk-influenced techno of Audion, to the soft focus melodies and hypnotic beats of Gui Boratto, and the intoxicating global electronics of Jurgen Paap - as well as much-played tracks from some of the imprint's most notable talents (see the contributions from Rex The Dog, Superpitcher, Matias Aguayo and John Tejada, whose "Two O One" is a tuneful techno delight).

Review: Moodmusic affiliate Dave DK is no stranger to Kompakt, having featured on several of their compilations over the years and done the odd remix. Their relationship is formalised here with the arrival of Val Maira, the Berlin producer's third album and a concerted attempt to go beyond the impressive production skills previously shown by Dave DK to offer "deeply personal expressiveness and emotional impact". Listening through the eleven tracks on this double LP edition, you'd have to say it's a success; Val Maira is rife with the kind of emotive electronics you expect from a Kompakt LP and is perfectly sequenced to run through a gamut of moods. A fine album from DDK.

Review: Kompakt's Total compilation series - an annual round up of gems from the imprint's tightly packed release schedule - must be one of the longest-running in dance music. Amazingly, this latest installment is the 14th volume in the series. For those who enjoy Kompakt's generally positive approach to electronic music - think tactile techno, ambient pop and skewed, synth-laden house from the likes of Michael Mayer, Thomas Fehlmann, Partial Arts and Gui Boratto - there's much to admire, including a slew of previously unreleased cuts. These include Superpitcher's "Delta", a sublime chunk of hypnotic e-tronica that's almost too melodic for its own good. Arguably even better is Weval's live recording of "Something", which is near perfect in its wide-eyed pop simplicity.

Review: This latest missive from highly regarded German deep house label Pampa blends the thrill of the new, with all the comforts of the familiar. It kicks off with the debut of a previously unheard artist, Californian duo Ricoshei. Their "Perfect Like You" is delightfully soft focus, delivering fragile, heartfelt lyrics over tactile deep house beats, simmering strings and atmospheric chords. It's certainly evocative, and delivers the perfect balance between saccharine sweetness and subdued dancefloor bump. Experienced German techno producer Dave DK pops up on the flip with "Woolloomooloo", a sublime saunter through dreamy, ultra-deep house pastures.
