Review: Funky house anthem "Do Your Thing" by legends Basement Jaxx was taken from the British production duo's second LP Rooty, released back in 2001. It now receives a terrific modern reshape by Spanish veteran David Penn, who injects the track with more than adequate dynamics for today's dancefloors. Penn sure had his work cut out for him, given it's such a classic, but he tackled the task with great style, and respectfully too. In addition to his main remix there's a handy edit version as well.

Review: Here's a rather epic proposition: a 33-track collection from Toolroom that not only boasts 32 classic, little known and unheard remixes from the label's vaults, but also a CD-length bonus mix. With tracks seemingly taken from the entirety of the label's existence to date, there are plenty of forgotten gems - think remixes by D Ramirez, Funk D'Void, Full Intention, and Copywright - as well as inspired reworks from such contemporary heroes as Dusky (a suitably reverential rub of Cloud 9's 1993 US garage classic "Do You Want Me Baby"), Tensnake (a typically touchy-feely rework of Jake Island) and Doorly (a bouncy UK bass-house interpretation of Steve 'Silk' Hurley's "Jack Your Body").

Review: Cleverly put together and skilfully arranged, Story starts off with a low-slung bass and a rumbling bass before Penn introduces jagged chords, powerful filters and tripped out vocal samples. It's a powerful if somewhat understated track, especially when compared to what comes next. As its title suggests, the "Fully Analog" remix from D.Ramirez is a rawer affair, with tough beats and a heavy-duty bassline making for a powerful combination. The other remixes, from Simon Doty and PACT, are trackier, with the Doty remix in particular centred on a rolling groove and tough percussive licks. The PACT version is more quirky, with jazzy motifs and soulful synths, but the stepping rhythm ensures its impact.
