Review: With the year drawing to a close, there is no doubt in anybody's minds that the Four40 team have put together another spectacular year of content. They have decided to celebrate this with another top notch compilation, with '11 Years Of Four40' exploring some of this year's biggest releases. The company the LP keeps is pretty outstanding, with the likes of Burt Cope, MPH, BWK Project, KASTLE, Jakobin, Papirus, Tuff Culture, Yemi and many many more all getting involved. As always with Four40 however, we have some very specific favourites we want to dive into, first off with Tee Vis & Phoebe Freya's super catchy singalong 'On You' absolutely smashing the charts at the time of its original release. We also can't miss our Royal Flush's fabulous rework of 'Gettin' Your Love' from George IV, WZA's Don't Wanna Give Up' and of course the Hybrid Theory rethink of 'Like You' from Blakk Habit, which to this day still receives reloads in the dances around the country. Another fabulous year for the Four40 crew!

Review: The beautiful thing about the Four40 discography is that it seems to just keep on getting better, this time included as they unveil this sizzling seven tracker from Deadly Habitz. We kick off with the dancefloor-focussed vocal sampling and skippy rhythmic textures of 'Gyaldem Skank', leading into the throwback reese bass drives, nostalgic chords and eerie strings of 'Rockport Flex'. We are already taking in a very depthy display of garage history at this point, with the breaks-infused drum skips of 'So Mysterious' and moogy synth pulses of 'The Lover Dealer' expanding that even further. From here we then move into the more stripped back drum arrangements and classic Rodigan vocal sampling of 'Watch The Ride', next to the high tempo drum crunches and warbling bass tones of 'Who U Are'. Finally, the pitched up vocal lines and throwback organ chord melodies of 'U Don't Know' give us a killer outro to another fantastic addition to Four40's catalogue.

Review: The quality and consistency of the Four40 release schedule over the last couple of years has been near enough unrivalled, especially when it comes to their incredible line of UKG drops. Next up from them we explore some of the best bits of that run. Just looking at the artists involved is enough to get any selector salivating as we see fantastic inclusions from Deadly Habitz, Patrick Kane, Kells, Yemi, Burt Cope, Vital Techniques and so many more. There are a couple on here that have really stood the test of time in our eyes, including the Hybrid Theory remix of Blakk Habit's 'Like You', which has been causing damage in the dances ever since the raves began to reopen. We would also include Joe Burger & Dread MC's wicked collab 'Vibe' in that list of top tier inclusions, alongside George IV's 'Gettin' Your Love' and of course 'Faithful' from BWK Project. More power to the Four40 crew, who continue to impress at every turn.

Review: As always with Four40, the consistency within the label's fabric shines through again as they welcome the wonderful Deadly Habitz inside for a super-smooth four track expanse. We kick off with 'Afterparty', a silky combination of subtle sub-lines and gorgeous pad textures layered atop skippy 2-step rhythms for some classy sound design. Next, 'Give U', collects a bag of crunchy percussive elements and scatters them across the rhythmic cosmos with some vibrant results, followed by 'Got Somebody Else', a more minimal design, focussing on classic UKG vocal sampling and sharpened drum punches. Finally, 'Take Flight' gives us a synth-heavy send off, with big room bass pulses and shifting synth sounds giving us an unpredictable yet overpowering finale.

Review: Well, when we saw this title land in the store we were as surprised as anyone to see that Four40 Records, one of the most active and exciting UK bass labels across the full breadth of 2020 has just turned 10 years old. This is a pretty outstanding achievement, for a label that is still at the forefront of it's sound to this very day. The compilation of course features some of the biggest releases from across the breadth of Four40's incredible catalogue of content, from the likes of Hybrid Theory, I Killed Kenny, Pavv, Limita and more, condensing ten years of musical progression into one extended tape. We also get to hear a bag of exciting new exclusives from the newer breed of the Four40 roster, including music from The Phat Controlla, Blakk Habit, Lucas Maverick, Gemi, Badger, Patrick Kane, Yozhi, George IV and more. What an incredible way to round off the year!

Review: It's been a very exciting start to the new decade for the Four40 crew, who were a truly unstoppable force last year, cheffing up over 25 incredible releases. Next up from them, they join forces with the wonderful Deadly Habitz, who supplies us with five potent UKG heaters. First up, 'Are You Dumb', sampling a classic Jammz vocal with smooth percussive slices, alongside the sweeping bass LFO's of 'Falling 4 U' and nostalgic chord expressions of 'So High'. Following that, 'Stay True' deploys some incredible vocal stutters and hard hitting horn stabs, before we round up on the sweeping subs and electronic vocal lines of 'Your Love'. Awesome work.

Review: If we were to give an award for label of the year based entirely on consistency, it would be hard to see Four40 not running away with it as they finally round off what has been an untouchable year with one last killer compilation. Royal Flush takes the role of compiler on this one, pulling in some scorchers from the likes of Soulecta, ZeroFG, Jack Junior, Tuff Culture, Earthnut and of course Royal Flush himself. There are a couple of tracks here we feel really hold their own amongst a stacked line up, with Pavv's classic sounding '3210' being one of them, alongside 'Guilty Twitches' from Ozwald and the choppy vibes of 'Love Is Coming' from the legendary EL-B.

Review: As Four40 enter into their second explosive run of the year, they here welcome in the ever-ready sounds of Deadly Habitz, who lands with four original UKG scorchers as part of the 'Past North' EP. We kick off with the mellow chord progressions and distant vocal expansions of 'Calling', before sidling into the more nostalgic drum shakes and pulsating bass rolls of the well named '90's Vibe'. This is then chased up by the housey organ sounds and catchy vocal lashings of 'Love It', before rounding the project off with a look at 'The Night', a hard hitting garage skanker from start to finish.

Review: It's quite astounding to witness the run of quality that Four40 are on at the moment, as they bring forth what seems like their 100th release of the year, courtesy of the smooth production stylings of Deadly Habitz. He kicks off with colourful three track outing with 'Garage Girls', a melodic roller packed with subby energy and uplifting harmonic structure. This is followed by the charming vocal layers and choppy, nostalgic composition of 'Set Me Free', which leads us into the final track 'Thinkin Of You', a sharper piece of drum design and smooth subby textures, wrapping a delightful body of work.

Review: It's always a thrill for us to see the Four40 imprint make a return to releasing as they here unveil three tracks of UKG inspired fire from the Scunthorpe based sounds of Deadly Habitz. We begin this one with some fragrant flare as 'Circles' kicks off the EP with a soulful punch, working smooth vocals in amongst skippy garage drums and fluttering subs. 'Rumours' follows with a more stripped back structure, still packing some serious weight with its subtle bass pressure however. Finally we take a dive into 'Chemical Love' which rounds up the 'Black & Blue' EP in style, using spacey atmospheric and wooden sounding percussive stabs to bring a real sense of space to the table.

Review: Inspired by the lack of pigeonholing in today's bassline scene, the much respected Low Pitched have rustled up their first album, Low Pitched Presents: Resonate, which aims to capture this aforementioned musical diversity. They haven't held back either, packing a whopping 23 new jams on this album, truly laying claim to having all bases covered. Highlights include the juddering low-end juggernaut "Patterns" by Clexx, the crisp, floating in space 2-stepper "Rowdy" and the truly next level, otherworldly rhythms of "Swedger" by Sketchman.
