Review: Connor 'Debonair' Bevan burst onto the scene in 2012, delivering an impressive debut EP for Kolour Recordings, as well as tracks for split EPs from House of Disco, Editorial, Whiskey Disco and Much Love. Three years on, he returns with arguably his most polished set of tracks to date. Committed to a dreamy, atmospheric take on deep house, all four tracks bristle with tactile dancefloor intent. Arguably the most impressive cut is "Terra Firma", where Bevan smartly combines "Deep Burnt" style strings, bass-heavy grooves and yearning vocal samples, though the chunkier, retro-futurist bounce of "Real Talk" is not far behind. The twinkling electronics, tumbling pianos and enveloping grooves of "Afterglow" are pretty darn tasty, too.

Fil Lavin - "Feel As I Do" - (8:34) 122 BPM
Linntronix & Samm - "Musique Concrete" - (5:55) 120 BPM
Mike Gill - "Prankstar" - (6:47) 115 BPM Hot
Debonair - "Trans Express" - (6:14) 112 BPM
Review: This third EP from Alkalino and Alphabet City's occasional MuchLove label gathers together more bright and breezy deep house gems from up and coming producers. Fil Lavin leads the way with "Feel As I Do", a typically bold and beautiful combination of atmospheric synths, big chords and classic vocal samples. Linntronix & Samm's "Musique Concrete" ups the ante with the sort of bold strings and melodies that will have you reaching for the strobes, before Mike Gill offers some deep and dirty midtempo bump in the shape of "Prankstar". A solid EP is completed by Debonair's "Trans Express", a decidedly Balearic fusion of clattering electro rhythms, disco samples and deep house chic.

Deep & Disco - "Hitney Whouston" - (6:17) 114 BPM Hot
Debonair - "Mellow Mellow" - (7:16) 110 BPM
Johnwaynes - "Number 1" - (7:37) 105 BPM
Review: This release reads like a re-edit producer's convention, with four different artists all delivering their own unique takes on selections from disco's past. "Hitney Wouston" is Deep & Disco's funky tech-house take on "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by you know who. It's an enthralling version that competes with Girls On Top's all-time reworking from back in the day. Alkalino's "Ruff N' Stuff" is a killer blend of throbbing bass, cowbells and a retro rap. Debonair's "Mellow Mellow" features a mesmerising, heavily filtered string loop and lots of disco lasers. Retro-house don Jonewaynes wraps things up with the looped slice of shimmering Balearica that is "Number 1".

Review: One year in and the 'House of Disco' label continues to move from strength to strength. The label, spawned from a blog to which is shares it's name, has risen majestically to the top of an ever increasing pile of disco imprints. There is no real mystery surrounding its success, only the best productions and edits find their way onto the labels releases, carefully hand picked with due care and attention. The digital age has made owning a label no longer the pastime of millionaire playboys with a penchant for cylindrical percussive instruments, any Tom, Dick & Harry can claim to own a label these days, and often all three do... it would be churlish to suggest there are no decent digital only imprints out there, a couple of labels spring to mind, however, the discerning jock understands that any label willing to take the time, effort and risk of pressing up some vinyl must really believe in what they are doing and have a deep understanding of the scene's DJs and fans. This, the fourth release on the label entitled 'Busy Tone EP' is a great example of the complimentary A&R which is a mainstay of the label. First up we have a slo-mo looper from Scottish producer (Ali) OOFT! The track respectfully uses a synth and vocal sample from disco group 'Maze', slowly building into a real crowd pleaser. Next up we have German duo Daniel Solar & Andi De Luxe, taking time out from running their own label (Dikso) to drop the string led dance floor bomb 'Seventh'. 'Debonair' makes his second outing on the 'House of Disco' this time turning in an impeccable rework of the Garage classic 'Just How Sweet is Your Love'. And last up we have loop master 'Late Nite Tuff Guy' who brings the EP to a chugging finale, amazing strings and a hypnotic beat make this one of the highlights of the EP. Collectively; this is a great package, individually; all the tracks are must haves.

Satin Jackets - "How Long Can I Wait For You" - (7:47) 109 BPM
Roberto Rodriguez - "Mustat Varjot" - (8:22) 105 BPM
Debonair - "Why" - (5:36) 110 BPM
Review: Since launching last year, disco/house website House of Disco's in-house (sorry) imprint has proved to be a rich source of atmospheric, groove-heavy slo-mo and midtempo tackle. Here they deliver four more sparkling cuts for the dancefloor. The Treatment's "Waves" builds a delightfully touchy-feeling synth-house jam around the groove from Surface's "Falling In Love", while Satin Jackets deliver a cosy, piano house-inspired nu-disco sparkler. Roberto Rodriguez opts for a more Balearic nu-disco feel on "Mustat Varjot", while Debonair turns a familiar disco staple into a rising disco/house banger - all twisted vocal samples, intricate percussion and heavy low-end bounce. Job done.

Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee - "Ridin'" - (3:18) 118 BPM
Review: On the back of their decidedly smoochy Show Me Love EP, the scalpel fiends and disco/house crossover monkeys at Editorial HQ take another trip into the world of soft-focus groovery. As usual, there's plenty of decidedly touchy-feely fare to enjoy, from the tough bass and twinkling synths of Elias Tzikas' "Just For You" and Tiger & Woods-on-valium vibes of Sellouts' "Let Me Work", to the sensual, slo-mo soul of Get Down Edits' "Two-Timin' Lady". The ever-cheeky Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee pair up for a silly, delay-laden re-tweak of the Knight Rider theme tune (really), whilst Debonair offers up a slick chunk of rush-inducing disco-house loveliness. Top stuff.
