Review: Hot Cakes are known for fusing the more abstract areas of bass and breaks, a theme which they stick to with this latest scorcher from Deekline, Lucent and Navigator. The A-side 'Whine Up' is a perfect fusion of junglist-style breaks and gnarly bass influences, with Navigator's instantly noticeable vocal presence adding some singalong flavour to Deekline & Lucent's system-busting instrumental below. From here, 'The Place Is On Fire' takes us down a much more stripped back avenue, with punchy drum processing, catchy vocal slicing and a lethal bassline all playing their part! Wicked stuff.

Review: As two of the most popular and versatile producers currently working in and around the realms of UK bass music, it's an absolute pleasure to see two powerhouses in Deekline and Fish team up for a hard hitting creation on Hot Cakes. In all honesty 'Sugar & Spice' isn't what you would particularly expect from either producer, but works so well it's untrue, from the hardcore influenced vocal slices, to the well designed breakbeat sampling and the luscious harmonic structure of the whole piece. Keep an eye out for an unexpected switch up however, as both Deekline and Fish work well to keep us on our toes.

It's all down to Jungle Cakes head chefs Deekline and Ed Solo who have been working hard in the bass kitchen since the foundation days. Here we find them in five Michelin star mode as they serve up a banquet of creations both from their own and their peers' menus. Highlights across this incredible D&B banquet abound from the moment Craze and Infiltrata's (aka 12th Planet) classic "Things Just Ain't The Same 4 Gangstas" opens the collection and Firefox's (aka Roni Size) seminal "Keep It Raw" headbutts us a few tracks later. Review: Prolific bass peddler Deekline can't keep still for long, but whilst his back is currently turned (he's working a new single), his anthem "Gotta Believe" has been whisked out in remixed form. The original was no wallflower, but these two new mixes elevate the tune in the epic stakes. UFO Project deliver a piano-house fusion with absolutely demented drops and builds, but it's Left/Right's mesmerizing haunted breaks version that's the best track on here.

Review: Two bass stalwarts from either side of the pond we call the Atlantic collide to create a six-sided breaks beast that leaves very little stone unturned. "Deep In The Jungle" pays homage to the classic rolling Botchit sound with timeless darkness. Elsewhere we get shattered by synths on Tony's classic electro-minded "Liberty Plaza", we get soaked by subs on Deekline's "I Can't Wait" and we go back to the mid zeroes for a lean, mean Get Physical-style tech hook on "3 Mins To Midnight". With sounds like these you kind of have to hope that Deekline and Tony remain in the jungle for a very long time.

Review: A very clever fusion of forces here; Booty bass baron Deekline has capitalised on both the title and the crowd-pulling clout of Jammer's girl-hunting grime cut 'Declined'. The result: An obese speed garage romp that tips its cap heavily towards Double 99's "Rip Groove" and 187 Lockdown's "Gunman". The vocal version works perfectly with Jammer's distinctive nasal lyrical fire while the instrumental just sends us straight back 97 with a one way ticket. Do not decline this one, it's a surefire party piece.
