DJ Deep - "What's Going On" - (6:13) 124 BPM Hot
Avision - "Hold No Groove" - (5:56) 128 BPM
Deetron - "Pulse" - (6:36) 140 BPM
Review: Next up on Laurent Garnier's label is a split release that explores the deeper end of house and techno. DJ Deep is up first with "What's Going On". Powered by raw, tribal beats and featuring lush pads, it sounds like the veteran house head's tribute to Joe Clausell's organic sound. Avision's "Hold No Groove" is also inspired by house music, but on this occasion, Chicago rather than New York is referenced. Combining a snaking bass with busy, layered percussion, the result is mesmerising. Deetron ups the tempo but maintains a deep sound on "Pulse", its musical but insistent rhythm recalls classic Kenny Larkin.

Runnin'/AM_909
Runnin' - (7:05) 127 BPM Hot
AM_909 - (5:38) 120 BPM
Review: Deetron is back at Nu Groove, bringing a two-track release, 'Runnin' / AM_909,' and it's a soulful techno and house journey you won't want to miss. Drawing inspiration from Detroit's golden era, Deetron gifts us with two tracks that dive deep into the realms of melody and rhythm. "Runnin'" is a lively, techno adventure, featuring an irresistible piano-synth loop that'll have you moving to the beat. The drums hit with precision, and the bassline carries a hypnotic depth. As the track unfolds, layers of synths and effects gradually build up, leading to a standout breakdown with a stuttering drumbeat and swirling synths that heighten the anticipation. The return to the main groove is explosive, leaving you craving more. Now, "AM_909" takes a slightly more mellow approach, but the magic is just as potent. The bassline weaves a deep and hypnotic spell, complemented by swirling and psychedelic synths that create an atmospheric vibe. While it leans towards a more subdued tone than "Runnin'," it remains just as danceable. The breakdown is a gem, featuring a stripped-back groove that allows the bassline and synths to take the spotlight. The track then builds up to a crescendo before gracefully concluding with a gentle outro. It's an experience that adds a different flavour but is just as captivating as its counterpart.

Deetron - "Vibrando" - (6:27) 135 BPM
Deetron - "Batuque" - (4:56) 136 BPM Hot
Samuel L Session - "Rico Que Rico" - (5:30) 138 BPM
Samuel L Session - "Guepa Guepita" - (4:43) 138 BPM
Review: It's hard to believe that this split release is over twenty years old. Like a fine wine, its quality has improved with the passage of time. Deetron's contributions see him follow a deeply musical route. "Vibrando" resounds to atmospheric pads and a soaring Detroit-style melody. Even though he follows a more percussive approach on "Batuque", its rolling groove teems with mellow chord sequences. Samuel Session's "Rico Que Rico" follows a similar approach as "Batuque". However, it's more frenetic, with melodies unfolding over an insistent, loped groove. On "Guepa Guepita" Session opts for a more stripped back approach. But rather than sounding minimal, the bubbling rhythm teems with cowbells and vocal snatches - making for a rich cacophony.
