Review: Since surfacing in 2020 with a Boo Williams EP that saw other records from Scan 7 and Byron The Aquarius follow - it's clear this Paris label knows what's up in the mid-west of America. For its fifth release the label welcomes the return of Detroit's Filthiest - who delivered 003 - with four acid-based, warehouse and club-sized electro, funk and piano p[ieces. Familiar to labels like Defected and Moveltraxx too, there's a definite deep house and ghetto tech edge to the music on Follow The Leader - soul tracks from Detroit's Filthiest for real.
Review: House fans will recognise the vocal on this instantly... DJ Nasty (under his Detroit's Filthiest alias) released this rampant, booty blasting electro-tech banger in 2002. Now injected with a new lease of life with Disclosure's new track "Bang That", MCEC have reminded us of the roots with these untouched 13 year old originals. The original is a firing 144 chopper with switches so hard you'll be Googling the nearest fracture clinics while the slower, more stately 125BPM mix wallops with more four-to-the-floor punch thanks to its elephantine bass/kick combs. A cool alternative to what's set to be one of the bigger records of the summer... Don't pass on this.
