Different Noodles is an alter ego used by Swirl People for a couple of releases on Antwerp label Wally’s Groove World in 1999 and 2001.
Swirl People, formed in Leuven, Belgium, became a dynamic force in electronic music, led by Dimitri Dewever and Raoul Belmans (dj RaOuL). Emerging in the late 1990s, they crafted groovy, soulful house music inspired by Leuven's vibrant club scene. Their distinct sound, blending funky basslines and jazzy instrumentals, gained recognition in the underground dance music community, with releases on labels like Aroma Recordings.
The duo's electrifying performances at European venues and festivals earned them a global following, praised for their infectious energy and seamless mixing. Swirl People's production work, featuring tracks like "We Used to Party" and “We Are,” became anthems, showcasing their commitment to pushing musical boundaries.
Beyond their music, Swirl People actively promoted Leuven's electronic music culture, organizing events and collaborating with local artists. Evolving over the years, they experimented with various styles while maintaining a deep passion for house music, leaving a lasting legacy in the global electronic music community. With a decades-spanning discography and many remixes, Swirl People's commitment to their craft continues to inspire music lovers worldwide.
Review: Swirl People have decided to launch a new label LITS (which stands for Lost In The Swirls) with new music from their reactivated Different Noodles alias. Wise move if you ask us because these tunes are top. 'Banana Resort' has an early West Coast tech house feel as well as hints of Chicago greats like Boo Williams and Glenn Underground. It's a super smooth and cool, breezy and balmy groove then 'Mr Boogie' gets more playful with bobbling drums and bright chord stabs under jazz leads. 'Flame' closes out a super strong EP with a more paired back sound built on fat drums and prying bass.
