Review: Seeing the names Big Dope P and Moveltraxx in the same sentence is always going to be an exciting way to start the week, as we see the two entities combine for a sizzling thirteen track album, taking the title 'Mehlish'. This is a fantastic showcasing of just how creative people can get within the boundaries of the Juke / Footwork sound, from the rave-ready 4x4 thumps of 'Ride It' with TT The Artist & Feadz, to the more mechanical percussive displays of 'Ugly' with Mighty Mark and the epic 80's synth slides of 'Diaphane'. It's difficult to actually highlight a standout set, with the overall quality of this project being so high. One standout however has to be one of the bonus tracks entitled 'Presidential Pimping', which we can see working extremely well as a D&B double drop, utilizing regal sounding horn stabs and hard hitting drums to tremendous effect.

Just take this immense project from DJ Andy as he shines a light on a huge cross-section of Brazilian talent on this long-awaited VA. To many highlights to list every one but Alibi's monster 'Rave Digger', L Side's firesome 'Inna Di Dance' and Dirtbag & Collette Warren's super-funk jam 'Telepathy' are great places to start. Review: The first in a series of artist EPs on Hayz and Chris Awesome's Boogie Boutique sees nu-funk dons Russ Cuban and DJ B-Side getting cheeky with a bunch of classics and adding their own breaks flare to each. No prizes for guessing what "Bomb Slippy" is based around: the duo add the "Apache" drumbreak and some canny bass licks to the slowed-down Underworld anthem, while "Renegade Slam" sees Queens' finest bald rappers Onyx getting a thoroughly hefty reworking. "Jam" is a tasty remake of Technotronic's evergreen "Pump Up The Jam", while a breaks edit of "Bomb Slippy" makes for an excellent DJ tool.
