Review: Ibiza-based tech house scene staple Tuccillo returns this week to present the latest release on Southern Italian label Moan. On "Let's Move," a catchy male vocal is placed in the middle part of the track that stands out, and will properly energise the dancefloor. Parisian stalwart Djebali steps up next for a remix; as expected it's a groovy and hypnotic tech house number with the late night in mind. Two more originals are included, in the form of percussive polyrhythmic DJ tool "Broken Minds" as well as the rolling and bass driven dub of "Feel The Mood".
Review: Three sumptuous offerings of quality grooves from the Aesthetic series, as Paris club scene fave Djebali and Argentinian DJ and producer Jorge Savorett join forces once again. This choice trio definitely veers on the side of the under rather than over stated, preferring to rely on warm rhythmic flourishes and enticing, inviting instrumentation rather than thumping firepower or gimmickry. The beats are tight and hypnotic, with perhaps just the slightest hint of a nod to the shuffling drum machine funk of early Derrick May productions like 'Nude Photo' here and the more head nodding repetition of Chicago jack house there. Aesthetically pleasing for sure.

Review: More highly engineered tech house by Parisian A.M. expert Mehdi Djebali here on his eponymous label, in collaboration with veteran Argentinian producer Guti. The pair began the production process almost a year ago, in Djebali's Paris studio. Although nothing was planned, they ended up creating six tracks in only a mere few days, and after road testing the material and seeing people's reactions on the dancefloor - they returned to the studio at the end of the summer to finish it. The resulting tracks appear on the Almost Finished LP: from the sunny and seductive sundown vibe of the title track, rolling and hypnotic afterhours tackle such as "Today's Vibe" and "Recreational Drugs" to slinky and hypnotic numbers like "Then I Am Free" or "La Profundo" which ssee Djebali follow in the Parisian tradition of legends like D'julz, DJ Deep and Franck Roger, while Guti injects proceedings with his signature latin flair. A solid body of work here.

Like its predecessor, Ideal Juice Compilation 2 features specially edited versions unique to the collection. As you'd expect, the 10-track collection is full of warm, woozy and emotion-rich deep house treats, with highlights including the bouncing, sun-kissed jazziness of "Sure Shot", the disco-fired warmth of "36th New Street", the low-slung, mid-'90s NYC revivalism of "The Nine Star" and the rubbery peak-time pulse of "Punchline", where early Floating Points style synthesizer motifs rise above a loopy, string-laden groove and bustling beats.

Review: When it first appeared on vinyl two years ago, the Island Jam EP simply flew off the shelves, becoming one of Holic Trax's best selling releases. It's good that digital DJs can now own a copy of the EP, which sees label regular Tuccillo join forces with John Dimas and Djebali. The latter makes his presence felt on EP highlight "Autler", a thrillingly bass-heavy bumper that seemingly draws influence from the glitch-driven grooves of Parisian tech-house and the rolling swing of classic U.S garage. There's a similar feel to the slightly more tactile - but no less warehouse-friendly - Dimas hook-up "A View From", while label boss Tomoki Tamura turns another Tuccillo/John Dimas jam, "The Other Side", into a restless chunk of deep space acid house.
Review: French veteran Chris Carrier first released material on Adult Only way back in 2000, and has made regular appearances on the label ever since. Here, he delivers his 11th EP for the imprint, offering up a pair of impressive collaborations in his trademark hazy, intoxicated, tech-tinged deep house style. There's a toasty warmth and impressive swing to the bouncing Hector Moralez hook-up "Galactical Dance Mate", which makes great use of sampled clarinets, far-sighted chords and barely audible vocal samples. Djebali provides the obligatory remix, turning the original into a Rbsoul style tech-house roller. Arguably even better is Carrier and Djebali's "BattleStar", a formidably percussive sprint into heavily percussive late night tech-house territory.

Review: If it's been anyone's year; it's definitely been Djebali's. The Ibiza dwelling Frenchman's acclaimed series of 12's on his eponymous imprint have fast become the stuff of legend, delivering surefire rolling and hypnotic maximal house: volume after volume that have included works by Mr KS, Tuccillo and Romanians Premiesku. On the 5 LP he presents his debut album and proves that he's been saving up some of his best grooves yet. The number not only marks the number of years that have passed since his label was conceived, but also represents the months it took to complete his very first long player. There's so many highlights, but our picks are: the very Derrick Carter/Sound Patrol sounding "Flamingo", the druggy dancefloor maximalism of "Mister Bastard" or "DB Cooper" and the blunted hip-hop beats of his collaboration with John Dimas "Suzaku"
