Review: French label X-Osted returns with a terrific new various artists compilation, which showcases exactly what it says on the tin, with contributions from a dozen names from the underground scene. From the hypnotic, heads-down stomp of Steff Corner's "To Get Down", YSSY's minimal rework of Languez's "Across The Worlds" in addition to his own contribution "Portal Beats" up next, which ventures into emotive deep house territory. Elsewhere, label boss Alan De Lanier's soulful minimal house groove "Jazzy Style" (Lady Of Victory mix) was a definite highlight, as was Medizan's tribal tech house remix of Hey Jack's "J6". Techno Culture Vol. 2 has all the right tunes a techno DJ needs.
Review: For this project, DocOlv returns with a weighty breakbeat experiment that goes by the name of 'Mamai'. The original track is a breathy horn driven composition, surrounded with melting subs and sharp drum processing. 'Mamai 2' however is a whole different story as luscious synthetic layers cascade amidst half time drum selections and angelic chord work. Two very innovative compositions available on this one!
