Review: Here we are with another gems from Aniara Recordings which finally become available on digital format. This time, it's Alexander Berg, known by his stage name Dorisburg, who has been an integral part of the Swedish imprint since its inception. He has contributed both as a member of Genius of Time and as a solo producer. " Time Stretch Totem" marks his fourth endeavor on the esteemed label, where he delves into the enigmatic realm of late-night, basement-friendly deep house. Crafted with the intention of enhancing marathon parties, "Time Stretch Totem" blends hypnotic, tribal elements and evocative electronic textures. It embraces the distinctive clicking and undulating rhythms often associated with German tech-house, creating an immersive sonic experience that immerses listeners in its captivating aura. "Lemuria" takes a more percussively audacious approach, captivating audiences with its unique, broken-house groove. Review: The once prolific Dorisburg (real name Alexander Berg) has been a little quiet of late, with this two-tracker marking his first solo release since pitching up on Phonica back in 2020. 'Voices' is a pleasingly epic and unashamedly atmospheric affair - a soft-touch slab of tech-tinged, eyed-closed deep house beauty rich in yearning, acid-stye lead lines, bittersweet chords and dreamy sonics. It comes accompanied by the equally inspired 'Skulptur 7', a similarly ultra-deep and enveloping workout that cannily blurs the boundaries between intergalactic deep house, electro and '90s ambient techno. Awesome stuff all told.

Review: Alexander Berg has put out records on Northern Electronics and Hivern Discs under his Dorisburg project, and now he lands on Phonica. The title track is a wonderfully dreamy affair, based on tight, stripped back drums and featuring warm melodies and traditional pipe playing. The overall result is like a more mystical version of producers like Lawrence or Efdemin. "Fumana Prophecy" sees Berg venture into a different direction: the drums are stripped back and when combined with the track's layered, rasping percussion, make for a mesmerising sound. Similarly, on "Rhythm Paint", Berg uses complex percussion and rolling drums to create a tripped out dance floor track.

Review: On the latest instalment of the long-running DJ-Kicks series, Peggy Gou paints a vivid picture. It starts with the widescreen ambience of Space Time Continuum's 1993 debut, "Fluresence", before moving into her own, cosmic "Hungboo" and the niggling acid of Pearson Sound's "Earwig", a contemporary cousin to Plastikman's Musik. There are other endearing oddities here, such as Andrew Weatherall's seductive house version of Sly & Lovechild's "The World According To..." and the raw drums of Kyle Hall's "Flemmenup". Gou has also included a Detroit techno classic, Psyche's "Crackdown", but balances this out with new, unreleased tracks from I:Cube - "Cassette Jam 1993" sees the maverick French producer deliver a frazzled, hazy affair - and Hiver's pulsating, acid-flecked "Pert".

Review: Alexander Berg has been a busy boy of late. Hot on the heels of his druggy, voodoo-inspired "Time Stretch Totem" 12" comes this expansive album for the consistently impressive Hivern Discs stable. In keeping with both his work and that of the label he's starring on, Irrbloss is hard to place, featuring as it does atmospheric, out-there explorations that variously touch on experimental deep house, IDM, ambient, crystalline techno and throbbing late night wonkiness. Despite the eclecticism, it all makes perfect sense, and comes cloaked in an air of feverish confusion that's never less than beguiling. We shouldn't have expected anything less.

Review: A welcome return for Sweden's finest exponents of sumptuous house music, as Dorisburg delivers two tracks on this excellent twelve from Aniara. Newcomers to the label will find much to like here, with the aptly titled "Tundra" an expansive number that gradually accrues illuminating layers of melody and rich rhythm. The track has a constant upwards trajectory yet retains the feeling of gentle restraint, the deep burnt spinal synth oscillations providing the requisite hypnotic effect. Meanwhile"Transform" sees Dorisburg indulge in immaculately crafted dubby house with vaguely techy overtones, frosted textures of dark sound gradually rising through the mist to lock into the stripped down percussion.
