Review: Dr Syntax and Dutchie are two absolute legends in their own respective fields, which is why seeing them combine on a grizzly grime roller was always going to be somewhat of a showstopping experience. This one is packed with high energy finesse from start to finish, from the intricately arranged vocal formulas of Syntax first injecting gnarly touch, which is matched by the ascending synthetics and horn-lines of the instrumental, only to be amplified further by Aisha Mae's catchy vocal hook as the track continues to progress. If we are honest, this isn't a collaboration we saw coming, but there is no doubt in our minds that this legendary link up has borne the sweetest of fruit!
Review: The Cuttin' It Fine crew sure know how to modernize hip hop and breaks fusion, with this latest collaborative appearance from Gramophone Soul & Dr Syntax giving us a tidy dive into funkadelic flavour. The original creation takes the title 'Ignition', which sees the instantly recognizable vocal tones of Dr Syntax arrive with some nostalgic flows and skippy lyricism over the top of Gramophone Soul's tidy, funk-infused instrumental, dripping in groovy horn samples and skippy breaksy textures for a fun result. This is then accompanied by the bass-heavy sweeps and vibrant arrangements of Baeboe's official remix, giving us an additional touch of dancefloor energy for good measure.
