Review: Wondering where that heatwave we were promised is? Look no further... Tribe Of Dub are bored of waiting on the meteorologists to get things right and they've brought their own balls of fire in the form of this super sick VA 'Tropical Heat'. Each track hitting with a differing style of spring in its step, highlights include Speaker Louis and Octo Pi's shimmering skanks on 'Badness Dub', the wobblesome mischief and vibes of T-Kay's remix Tomoyoshi's 'Feel The Sunbeam' and the mind-melting finale from Lowriderz who have tapped into a classic late 90s Ram vibe for their concluding cut 'Deep Style'. Sup sup!

Review: Easing selectors across the 170 sphere for several years now, German groove hound Dub Defense lays down his debut album and, as we ease into sunnier months, the timing couldn't be better. It's vibes from the off as well known chimes herald a spiritual soundsystem call on "94 Style" before rusty amens knock our block off on "Early In The Morning". Elsewhere "Funk Attack" plucks and tucks with a sublime twanging b-line, "Operation" slices up our soul with its barbed wire breaks and scalpel skanks and "Live In Love" reminds us why we all fell in love with music in the first place. A highly accomplished album for heads, headphones and heady dances. Tip.

Your Time Has Come (DannyLo remix) - (6:15) 175 BPM
Review: This is a gorgeous collection of laid back vibes, which is totally soul soothing. The vibe of the EP seamlessly mixes, liquid, jungle and dub into one warm pot of remix loveliness. Standing out as one of our favourites is 'Early Morning (Treeex Remix)' with is soft flutes, piano and its warm, unassuming sub. 'Different' has been remixed twice on this EP and we're really feeling the Rvee cut which feels open, allowing us to hear the subtle pulsations and reoccurring drum crashes. 'Look at the Trees' has a real ethereal feel inviting us to float and observe the world from higher planes.

Jungle Drops 4
Israel - (4:52) 175 BPM
Mash Down Babylon - (4:44) 173 BPM Hot
Review: Dub Defense is a 23 year old producer and remixer, mainly focusing on jungle and liquid drum & bass, He is currently based out of Germany. Starting off with the dub reggae influenced stepper "Israel" which features some breakneck beats and rolling basslines that will surely get some lighters in the air: we'd bet on it. Next offering "Mash Down Babylon" is dub wise D&B on the deep tip, that calls to mind the glory days of Roni Size's Full Cycle imprint when legends like DJ Die and DJ Krust reigned supreme. With releases coming up on the likes of Los Angeles based Soul Deep soon: Dub Defense is surely one to watch!

Unification Dub - (5:18) 175 BPM Hot
Stone Love - (6:09) 175 BPM
Review: Continuing a rich run of form for the last year with releases on the likes of Liquid Drops, Soul Deep, Smooth N Groove and many more, German skank gangster lands on a totally appropriate stable... Totally Dubwise. Across the two tracks we're treated to total sunshine soul. "Unification Dub" has to the power to live up to its name. Clean, dreamy and loaded with just enough weight to make a crowd jump in unity, this will slay festivals this summer. "Stone Love" is a deeper roller with hypnotic percussion and some really neat warm filtering on the horns. On point.

Review: Celebrating half a decade in the game, MSdoS's Liquid Drops gets reflective and pours back over the last year of sounds, selecting soaking soulful highlights. There have been many... 2016 was the label's most prolific year with groove upon groove every month. Highlights include the daft samplecraft and subtle gully bass squidges on Clart & MSdoS's "Disco Inferno", the dusty jazz finesse of "Morning Vibes", the overwhelming bass sensation of NCamargo & Ghibli's "Astral Drift". And that's just the tip of the freshness fountain.

Review: It's skank o'clock at Soul Deep HQ as Dub Defense returns to the LA imprint with his trademark German dub science. Armed with a clear ear for space, DD's sense of element position is showcased throughout as the percussion on "Different Dub" cascades like water, the synths on "Run Away From Yourself" sparkle with soul and the amens rattle with purified energy on "Look At The Trees". Finally we hit filtered bliss as the reverbed sample stretches throughout the cut with hypnotic headiness.

Keep On Trying - (6:01) 174 BPM Hot
Review: Dreamy D&B a la Deutsch; Dub Defense goes on the vibe offensive with four slabs of ageless rolling spirit. Detailed with an array of lingering musical elements that shimmer and ripple through each track, weaving and bobbing amid some colossal drum work, each cut is a heads-down spell into another dimension. Highlights include the half time dub drop on "Keep On Trying" and the foggy, trippy textures on "Early Morning Sun". Stunning.

Review: Switching their signature soothing liquid for a rougher, heavier jungle vibe, Soul Deep head to Germany for a heavyweight reggae jungle four-tracker. There's some serious vocal syrup going on with cuts such as "Why Did you Leave Me" and "Your Day Has Come" but if you're looking for pure drum awe than jump on the Paradox-level drums of "Refuge" and "People Of The World" or the total dub immersion on the breakdown of "Earth & Sky". Get on the Defensive.
