Review: Following his recent release on Odd Even, Dubspeeka now makes his debut on Last Night On Earth. "Torn434" sees him at his most reflective, with tranced out chords unfolding over a stripped back groove. It makes for a haunting, evocative deep techno arrangement. On "Torn392", the UK producer picks up the pace, with dense drums and tight claps underpinning dreamy textures; as the arrangement drops, brittle break beats are introduced to mark the transition. "Torn334" is the most ominous track; with its billowing chords and spaced out, filtered kick drums, it'll appeal to techno fans who might not normally gravitate towards material on Sasha's imprint.

Review: Dubspeeka follows up 2018's Contras release on Odd Even with this expansive EP. The title track resounds to billowing chords underpinned by a lean, metallic rhythm, looped to infinity. On "Kie", there's a similar rhythmic approach, but on this occasion the stepping beats provide the backdrop for acid gurgles and dubbed out chords. "A3A33" sees the UK producer raise the tempo and add some trance sparkle thanks to the addition of frosty melody lines - it's no wonder that he has released on Get Physical and Sasha's Last Night on Earth. "QWN" sees him opt for a stripped back approach, with seductive electronic tweaks underpinned by lithe percussion.

Review: Miami Music Week is undoubtedly one of the most important events on the calendar for the global electronic music community. Berlin powerhouse Get Physical has tapped Bristolian rising star Dubspeeka to soundtrack this year's event on their annual compilation series, bringing (like his name may suggest) some rolling, low end heavy grooves on the glacial and tunnelling tip. Not what you'd usually expect for the sun soaked festivities, but after one listen you'll hear that it certainly does work. From the legend Steve Rachmad's Basic Channel tribute on his remix of M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade's "Home", the deep tribal atmospherics of Floyd Levine's remix of Thor Rixon's "The Clown" through to harder hitting sounds by the CLR affiliated Monoloc on M.A.N.D.Y's- "Gizmo". Also, the inimitable Robert Hood's provides an intense dancefloor weapon via Azari & III's "Extinction Event". These tracks are a bunch of secret weapons for any serious DJ. Comes complete a continuous mic with several of Dubspeeka's own wicked tracks..

Review: Oliver Huntemann's label returns with more dancefloor drama from the dark side, by some of the scene's most exciting players on Senso Sounds Level 04. French techno producer Bruno Demoeugeot aka Citizen Kain teams up with STAB Virus on "Torium" which ticks all the right boxes for a Senso track: doom laden pads, dark chords, steely rhythms and grinding arpeggios - all compressed into one big, brooding package. German producer Carlo Ruetz cuts to the chase on the aptly titled "Sky's Black" (and strips things back while he's at it) on this tunnelling and sinister epic. Finally, man of the moment Dubspeeka continues on with an impressive streak of releases on International Deejay Gigolo, Knee Deep In Sound and Get Physical recently - the cavernous, bass heavy tech house of "Aakash" further cements his status

Review: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus has described Spirits, the label's new annual compilation series, as "a fresh psychedelic journey into the mind". While that might be over-egging the (Christmas) pudding a bit, there's definitely a deep, humid and occasionally hallucinatory feel to many of the showcased tracks, which mostly sit somewhere between lucid deep house and skewed tech-house wonkiness. Wisely, Lazarus has chosen tracks from new and rising stars of his various labels, with highlights coming from the likes of Magit Cacoon (the bass-heavy, Innervisions-esque "Nonsense"), Raw District (the foreboding last night hypnotism of "Another Way", featuring folksy vocalist Alice Rose) and Nico Stajan and David Mayer, whose brilliant "Killing Your Lover" layers an eyes-closed Jan Blomqvist vocal over dense but groovy tribal drums.

Review: From his native Dusseldorf to his adopted home of Berlin, Alex Niggemann's name is synonymous with the German tech house sound and appearances on a who's who of labels in recent years. From Poker Flat, Last Night On Earth and Tsuba to his own respected Aeon and Soulfooled imprints, he has shown his knack for deep and sexy grooves and his last eight years of DJing and studio prowess is on display for the latest edition of Australia's Balance series of mix compilations. The programming on Balance runs the gamut from deep, dark journey tracks (Gui Boratto "Joker" (Dave DK mix)"/Baikal - "Pelican's Flight"), dreamy hypnotism (Aril Brikha/Sebastian Mullaert - "Illuminate"/Antigone "Blue Note") and some new exclusives from the man himself, such as the mighty slow burner "Divergent".
