Sunny Side Up - (4:44) 107 BPM
Review: On its initial vinyl release earlier this year, our sister site Juno Records described this mini-album from electrofunk and synth-boogie revivalist E-Live as, "stunning". We have to agree. As they pointed out, if you have an expansive knowledge of 1980s electronic funk, you'll hear tons of subtle nods towards tons of original era artists and tracks throughout the set's superb original compositions. For proof, check the Fonda Rae style richness of "Boogie For Life", the Herbie Hancock-inspired "Sunny Side Up", the D-Train-ish dancefloor heat of "Rollin' Steady", which also boasts some killer jazz guitar action, and talkbox-sporting P-funk specialist Roger Troutman ("Case of the Shakes"). Simply essential.
