Review: Earlier in the summer, Innervisions dropped the club mix of 'Secret Places', the title track from Echonomist's debut album. The album, which is presented here in its entirety, arrives some 17 years after his first single. Since the Greek producer has plenty of experience, it's unsurprising to find that he's used the opportunity the format provides to showcase many different sides of his musical outlook. So, we get an attractive blend of ambient, subtly post-punk influenced downtempo pop ('A Different Frame'), dark-wave influenced throb-jobs (the title track), pulsating electro-disco (the dark Italo-ish 'The Sequence Cabinet'), mind-mangling vocal tech-house ('Falling Head First', 'High End'), evocative neo-progressive house ('Empty Hours'), deep, dubby and ghostly electronica ('When In Rome') and quirky leftfield synth-pop workouts that defy easy categorization ('Back To Mine').

Review: A welcome return to the Innervisions fold for long-serving Greek producer Echonomist, who last featured on Dixon and Ame's popular imprint back in 2021. In keeping with many of his recent outings, 'Secret Places (Club Version)' is an atmospheric vocal number in which his and Avangart Tabldot's mesmerising, otherworldly lead vocals rise above a thicket backing track that sits somewhere between nocturnal tech-house, stylish 1980s new wave and Weatherall-esque "dark disco" - all moody bass, hissing cymbals, enveloping chords, throbbing arpeggio-style electronic bass and razor-sharp electronic motifs. It's a fine song and musically, it's as interesting and left-of-centre as it is alluring and strangely addictive. If it's a taster of a forthcoming album (which it could well be), then that set will be worth a listen.

Review: TAU bosses Adana Twins have always used the label's annual Spektrum compilations to showcase the quality and variety of the imprint's output, with tracks coming from both established artists and new signings. They've stuck to the same principles on volume four in the series, resulting in another strong collection of guaranteed dancefloor hits and pleasant surprises. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the psychedelic, post-tech-house trip of AIKON's 'Magenta', the deep space electro shuffle of 'Forever Mornings' by Echnonomist, and the bouncy, acid house-goes-boompty sweatiness of SXF's 'Workshop 5', to the throbbing Itali-disco revivalism of GUMM's 'Heroes Call', the sleazy TB-303 insanity of Adana Twins' 'Feel The Acid', and the fuzzy, hypnotic Berlin house haziness of 'The Covenant' by Volar.

Review: Mind Against have released on well-known labels like Hotflush and Afterlife - now they bring their distinctive sound to this collection for Fabric. "Freedom", the pair's collaboration with Dyzen, encapsulates everything that Mind Against are associated with; widescreen synths, dreamy deep house textures and crisp break beats. There are similarly hypnotic contributions from Yotam Avni and Marino Canal. However, this selection is not one-dimensional; it also features tough dub techno from Echonomist and Toto Chiavetta, as well as more left of centre selections like the organic, tribal drums of Aera's "Ketosis" and Red Axes' electronic disco, "Connector". That the Mind Against duo are able to integrate these disparate elements and put their own mark on the end result speaks volumes about their talents.

Review: Tale Of Us curates the next volume of their epic compilation series Unity, featuring contributions from a cast of talent located all over the world. Part 3 maintains the same premise as the previous installments, gathering together a massive collection of 39 tracks designed to transport you into another realm. ANNA kicks off proceedings with the mesmerising dance floor drama of "Cosmovision" feat. Ravid, label staple Colyn takes you deep into the aether on the melodic bliss of "Unstable Gravity Alert" and esteemed German producer Recondite takes you on a descent further down the spiral on the brooding "Runner". Elsewhere, representing the new school, the ascendant Kevin de Vries nails that perfect main room techno sound on the epic "Biohazard", as does Innealea with the slinky and hypnotic "Targo", while scene veterans Argy and Dino Lenny represent their vintage with some equally impressive contributions in the form of "Mental Powers" and "Breathe" respectively.

Review: It's not giving much away to state that Dessous' latest compilation, a third instalment in their occasional We Like The Deep series, is piled high with house music that combines tried-and-tested dancefloor grooves with melody-rich musical elements that tend towards the warm and atmospheric. Because of this, each and every one of the collection's 11 tracks sound just as good at home as they do on a meaty club soundsystem. Our picks of the multitude of highlights include the hypnotic, locked-in haziness of James Dexter's 'Get To This', the afternoon-fresh jazziness of Mihai Popoviciu's 'Left Hand Thought', the ultra-deep shuffle of 'Soul Alive' by Chocky, and the opaque deep house soul of Langenberg's Blakkat hook-up, 'Shadows'.

Review: Petros Manganaris is one in a clutch of artists pushing their way to the top through the Innervisions label, with his Echonomist project highlighted in recent times next to the likes of Nandu, Mike Steva and Aera. Having released the six-track Virtuality EP to acclaim last year the Greek artist swiftly backs it up with Night Versions. With emphasis on the techno and synth pop inspired "Our Last Night" (with additional Radio Edit) it brings with it a sound that combines contemporary German pop held together by indie and electro - thik Digitalism. On the flip you'll find "Different Versions Of Your Love" that sees a jungle rhythm set to progressive sounds of trance, new wave and UK bass.

Review: TAU label heads Adana Twins have been soaking up the success of their single 'My Computer", remixing legend Josh Wink and a collaboration with Danish pop outfit WhoMadeWho alongside Greek producer Echonomist - who just presented his 'Modern Wonder' EP on for the label. It's been a hugely successful year for these two acts and they collaborate once more on the 'Subway Yard' EP, featuring four sublime cuts: from the moody and dystopian electro-bass excursion of the title track, the euphoric neon-lit nu-disco action of "Into The Night" right through to the tunnelling and hypnotic dancefloor drama of "Universal Dolls".

Review: Petros Manganaris aka Echonomist follows his recent contribution to Dixon's Transmoderna compilation with this distinctive and varied debut for Innervisions. The title track resounds to the electronic bass sound of Italo, while at the other end of the spectrum, Manganaris conjures up a bleak-synth led electro arrangement in the shape of "Planeless Sky". In between these two extremes, there are rough, glitchy house tracks like "Belfast Sun" and "Portamento", while on "MS20101", he takes influence from Carl Craig to deliver a synth-heavy techno track that is underpinned by his rough, fragmented rhythms. Changing approach once again, "Daydreaming" features mournful synths and a disco groove.

Review: Compilation of the month goes to this Tenor produced Deep in My Soul 2 various artist LP, put together by a label of those in the know outta Germany. Taking in the jazzy, soulful shuffle of Rick Wade in tracks like "Gotta Have Jazz" to Giorgio Moroder remixes, this collection of tunes gracefully captures the unique vibe and several strands of pseudo-contemporary-house. Standout numbers include Deeper Thoughts And Sensitive Soul's "Dream" while more progressive workouts come from Ben Muetsch. Keeping it dub and techno though is Dave Pad with his remix to Echonomist's "Kubrik Thursdays" alongside the warehouse aesthetics and reverberating basslines of Tayllor And Nick Pappa. Dub house, techno, disco and soul for alles.

Review: Based in Hamburg, TAU is a label started in 2018 by Benjamin Busse and Friso Traas aka Adana Twins, that has released tracks by scene heroes such as Glowal, Echonomist, The Cheapers and many more. The label presents their second instalment in the 'Spektrum' various artists sampler, which features top shelf material by the likes of: Southern Italian duo Underspreche who deliver the entrancing pizzicato inflected vibes of "My Beloved", German veteran Ruede Hagelstein delivering impeccable dancefloor drama as always on "Aschera", ascendant Berliners Local Suicide teaming up with Duro main man Theus Mago on the dark disco odyssey "Technican" and Watergate's sound engineer in residence Biesmans, who provides yet more successful efforts in his newfound love of music production on the neon-lit Italo acid energy of "Wild Wild World".
